Penguin’s genders cannot be distinguished visually. They look the same. The only way one can identify the gender of one of these birds is by a blood test. When Pesto’s results came back, the caretaker’s celebrated over the cake that was blue on the inside. Pesto the penguin was a star since the day he hatched. He was the first King penguin to successfully hatch in the last two years. He is a juvenile bird who was born back in January of this year.
Why is Pesto the penguin so rotund? Rumor has it that it could be genetic. His father Blake is also a large penguin that is above average. Pesto also gobbles down 25-30 fish every day, which is definitely contributing to his roundness. It’s believed that he will become a bit less fluffy with age. Tango and Hudson are 24 pounds each, creating an adorable size difference between Pesto and his parents. Lucky for Pesto the Penguin, his species are not at risk for extinction. Their population in the wild is nice and high. Unlike Pesto, the average adult King penguin is 35 pounds and 3.2 feet at the highest. Pesto will confirm that his species loves eating small fish, squid, and arthropods like crab. In the wild, these penguins will stay underwater for 5–10 minutes while hunting their prey. Pesto prefers being hand-fed. It fits his lifestyle better.
Unlike Magic and Sphen, King penguins are usually only monogamous with their mate for the season. After they build their pebble nest and raise their young, the ‘couple’ says goodbye. The next time around, the birds will usually find a new honey to stay warm with during the next breeding cycle.

Moo Deng is confident in her cuteness. She is busy biting her handler’s leg and hoses. The ‘Bouncing Pork’ delight is always wet and dramatic, stealing the show.
