Top Animated TV Shows You Need to Watch Right Now

animated tv shows

Currently, we’re in a golden age of animated TV shows. Whether it’s adult animation or for children, the genre has never been so full of choices. It can sometimes get overwhelming to decide what shows to watch, especially when some shows have a lot of seasons and episodes. We have a list of the top three animated TV shows you need to watch right now. Let’s get started.

Animated TV Shows: Bob’s Burgers

This Fox adult animation follows the Belcher family working in their mostly failing restaurant, Bob’s Burgers. We watch Bob, Linda, and their three kids navigate different life challenges. Bob and Linda are both quirky, offbeat characters. They always mean well, especially for their kids, and mostly try to do the right thing. Their children, Tina, Gene, and Louise, are just as quirky as their parents. They’re also well-meaning but mischievous.

The draw of Bob’s Burgers is the comedy and endearing family dynamic. Instead of the punchline being that Bob hates his family and the siblings resent one another, they have strong family bonds. Of course, they don’t always get along, and plenty of episodes show them at odds with one another, but the Belchers love each other and aren’t afraid to show it. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to other adult animated TV shows like Family Guy or The Simpsons that show toxic familial behavior.

So far, Bob’s Burgers has 14 seasons, the show is still ongoing, and you can watch it all on Hulu.

Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls isn’t a new show by any means; in fact, the show ended in 2016. It’s been twelve years since the premiere of Gravity Falls, but fans are still talking about it as though it just came out yesterday. Gravity Falls depicts a set of twins named Dipper and Mabel who are forced to spend the summer with their great-uncle in a town they’d never heard of. The town of Gravity Falls is small, and Dipper soon discovers it’s full of mysteries and anomalies. After finding a journal detailing the town’s weird things, Dipper begins his investigations.

While this is a children’s show, it’s still endearing and entertaining. Regarding kids’ animated TV shows, Gravity Falls is undoubtedly of high quality. It will have you on the edge of your seat, your brain working overtime to figure out the riddles and mysteries before Dipper and Mabel do. Gravity Falls was well received and loved throughout its 2 season, 40-episode run. It would be best if you got into Gravity Falls because of the new book based on the series. It’s heavily hinted that there will be a long-awaited season three, and should that happen, you’d want to be prepared and caught up.

Arcane

The final recommendation on this list is Netflix’s Arcane. This show is based on the champions of League of Legends, giving them a past/backstory. In this adult cartoon, we follow two sisters who end up on opposite sides of a war. Violet and Powder grew up incredibly close, even after their parents died. Years after a freak accident drives Powder and Vi away, the former loses her mind and assumes a new persona: Jinx.

Season 2 of Arcane is set to come out in November, three years after the first season premiered. The show is incredible. Every aspect of it, from the voice acting to the direction, the writing, and the animation, is truly a masterpiece of a show. Fans are excited for the highly anticipated season, and you should catch up on the series before the second season releases. It’s certain to trend on social media, and it will be fun for you to join the conversation as it primers.

Final Thoughts

Each of these animated TV shows will give you different vibes. For comedic tones and easy-to-digest viewing, watch Bob’s Burgers. Just sit back and enjoy the jokes and the oddball nature of the Belcher family. Gravity Falls is your show for family-friendly viewing sprinkled with mystery and high stakes. And if you want incredibly high stakes, adult themes, and complex characters, it’s time to get into Arcane. Regardless of which of these animated TV shows you choose, you’ll love each one.
