The Captivating Inside Out Receives 2025 Spin-Off Series

inside out

Inside Out is one of Disney’s most popular franchises. The first installment came out in 2015, and the concept was so exciting and creative that it captivated audiences everywhere. After the film’s incredible success, Disney began working on the sequel, which came out this year. Inside Out 2 was an unprecedented success at the box office, attracting children and adults to the theaters. Now, there’s going to be an Inside Out series coming to Disney+ next year. Here’s everything we know.

The Inside Out spin-off series, Dream Productions, was announced earlier this summer at D23. The plot of this show will follow the dream factory in Riley’s head. You may remember this factory from Inside Out when Joy, Bing Bong, and Sadness tried to return to headquarters but found themselves lost. The job of the dream factory is to create Riley’s good and bad dreams.

The series occurs between the first and second films, and it’s unclear if it’s a limited series or if it will continue after the events of Inside Out 2. So far, there is a confirmed cast and plot of the series. In the show, we will follow the character of Paula Persimmon, the director at Dream Productions, who ensures that everything runs smoothly in Riley’s department. However, Paula begins having troubles at work that might put her job in danger. To save her career, she partners with a new director, one with whom she doesn’t see eye to eye

The show already has a confirmed cast featuring Paula Pell, Richard Ayoade, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Alli Maki, and more. Dream Productions will be released in 2025, is a Pixar TV show, and will be exclusively available on Disney+.

Inside Out Cast

So far, we don’t have clear information on how involved the original characters of Inside Out will be in this spin-off, though many of them have been confirmed for the casting. Based on the casting, we could see Joy, Fear, Disgust, Anger, Sadness, and Riley herself.

There’s no mention of casting for Maya Hawke or Ayo Edebiri, who voiced Anxiety and Envy in Inside Out 2, but the original cast of emotions has been confirmed. It’s unclear what their roles will be or how they will tie into the story, but Joy is familiar with the dream factory, so that could be a way to tie her into the story.

The show is written and directed by Mike Jones, who has written for other Pixar projects, Soul and Luca. He also worked on both Incredibles films as an additional crew. With these films under his belt, it gives a lot of confidence in the quality of Dream Productions.

Conclusion

Inside Out is a beloved franchise, and this spin-off will only increase that love. Using the original voice actors of beloved characters like Joy, Sadness, and Anger gives audiences comfort and confidence. It will be interesting to see where Disney continues to take the Inside Out franchise following the sequel’s success and the potential of this spin-off.
