Your favorite anti-hero is back. Venom: The Last Dance is the last and third installment of Marvel’s Venom series. The film is set to debut on October 25th, and we see Eddie and Venom heading to Las Vegas while encountering another round of foes. The series continues the story with Eddie Brock and our favorite, the sentient alien, who has bonded with Eddie through a symbiotic relationship. But since it’s been a few years since the first and second films, let’s recap the sentient alien and what he has done up until now.
Venom
Venom (2018) is the origin story and gives us background on how Venom and Eddie met. Brock, an investigative journalist with a black-listed reputation, first bonded with the sentient alien when researching the Life Foundation. The pair then must work together to stop Carlton Drake, the Life Foundation’s CEO, who is planning world domination by turning all human beings into symbiotes. The two are victorious and agree to stay bonded together due to their mutually beneficial relationship and loyalty to one another.
Let There Be Carnage
Let There Be Carnage continues the story of Venom and Eddie but with more adjustments to cohabiting. Venom is handling the challenge of having a more restricted diet, while Brock struggles to balance the sentient alien’s tendencies to use their superpowers spontaneously. All comes to a head when Brock interviews Cletus Kasady, a serial killer with a knack for vengeance. Kasady also becomes host to a younger and stronger symbiote than Venom. Eddie and the alien agree to put aside their struggles to take down Kasady, who is willing to stop at nothing to kill anyone in his way.
Final Thoughts
Although not much is known about the third movie, a few theories are floating around as to who will be in the film. One of them is the appearance of Knull, the God of Darkness that started the creation of all symbiotes, including Venom. There is also talk of Toxin being included in Venom: The Last Dance. Toxin is a symbiote offspring of Venom. However, fans are unsure if he is to be an enemy or ally at this point.
Regardless, the last film of the series is something fans will appreciate and enjoy. The past two movies did an excellent job of telling the story of Eddic Brock and our sentient alien with an interesting yet different relationship. Venom: The Last Dance will be the last chance for creators to put a nice bow on a story that has come together very nicely.
