According to HypeBeast, Focus Features released a new poster for their upcoming biopic about musician Pharrell Williams, Piece by Piece. As befitting the film’s artistic nature, the poster features a rainbow of Lego bricks rising from behind Williams standing at the center. Additionally, the mini-figures of several starring celebrities are revealed on the poster. Nearly every brick on the poster builds up to the film’s story.
In contrast, the film initially had a more straightforward poster featuring Williams’ minifigure marching ahead of several evolving golden pieces. This new poster more accurately captures the bombastic, colorful nature of the film’s story. Piece by Piece will arrive in theaters on October 11 and is rated PG.
All About Pharrell Willaims’ Upcoming Biopic
Of the many biographical films released over the years, few will ever be as avant-garde as Pharrell Williams’ upcoming animated biopic, Piece by Piece. To capture his upbeat and zany style, Pharrell not only chose to make the biopic animated but also animated the entire film in the style of Lego animation. Given that Pharrell Williams prides himself on being an extremely stylish individual (as a fashion designer), this choice of visual style is par for the course.
Furthermore, Pharrell invited many friends to appear as themselves throughout his life, giving the film a star-studded cast. Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, and Snoop Dogg will all make appearances. The film features many pieces from his discography and two original songs created for the occasion.
The Oscar-winning Morgan Neville will direct the film. He proved himself as a skilled creator of biopics through Mickey: The Story of a Mouse and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Because of this, Pharrell and the Lego group chose the right director for his biographical skills and the humanity he adds. The film was also produced by Focus Features, a studio specializing in original, independent films such as Promising Young Woman and Brokeback Mountain.

According to behind-the-scenes material, he and the artists worked to create a visual style that accurately captured black art, culture, and styles in the animated medium. As a result, the film might stand alongside even Spider-Verse as one of the most inventive pieces of African-American animation.
