The 13-second TikTok video concept was simple: an artist playing the track for his friends while in the studio. Comments on the video show that multiple TikTok users believed that the track had what it takes to be the Song of the Summer based on the short clip.
In the weeks that followed, there was no way to avoid hearing the chorus as content creators began making videos along with the song. Once the song was released on streaming services, it rose to the number two position on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 11. In its debut, “Million Dollar Baby” resulted in 38 million U.S. streams; since then, the song has become TikTok’s U.S. #1 Song of the Summer.
