Hunter x Hunter Could be Making a Much Awaited Comeback with Colored Artwork of Killua

Hunter x Hunter holds a special place in the hearts of anime and manga fans. Considered by many to be one of the greatest anime and manga ever produced, this Shonen is in a class of its own. And the anime ending with the Election Arc no doubt came as bitter-sweet for countless fans. However, in the manga world, Hunter x Hunter has been going strong.

It is important to note that there are many who are not familiar with the world of Hunter x Hunter manga and whose only knowledge of the show is through the anime; what you may not know is that Hunter x Hunter has been entertaining fans long after the anime adaptation came to an end in 2014. Now news is breaking that could be more in store for fans.

Kilua in Color – Promises Much

News is breaking that the Hunter x Hunter fandom might be getting new chapters from Yoshihiro Togashi. In March this year, Togashi announced that chapter 401 was close to publication. But things have not been very clear since then. A colored artwork of the beloved Hunter x Hunter character: Killua Zoldyck was a sight for sore eyes.

It reinforces the message that the author is up and running and that fans can expect more in the coming months. But questions remain on the quantity of the output. This is especially so for anime fans, who would be hoping for more chapters and more arcs that could potentially invigorate an anime restart. We can all hope.

The Hunter x Hunter Story Continues Well Beyond the Anime

The conclusion of the 2011 anime produced a range of emotions from elation, and fear, to sadness. It truly was an achievement in the world of anime. Whilst the story in that particular art form ended, now almost a decade ago, the story of Gon Freecss and his friends continued elsewhere. Here it is important to point out the core inspiration for the anime series: the manga written and illustrated by the legendary Yoshihiro Togashi.

If you have been following the Hunter x Hunter manga, the main story that was featured in the anime, ended around chapter 339. But the writing for the manga didn’t stop. Anime fans were left on the edge with the grand but terrifying revelation that the events of Hunter x Hunter took place for the most part in the ‘Known World’. The prospect that there is a far bigger, and possibly far more dangerous world out there, really sets things up for viewers. In the Hunter X Hunter manga, this is what readers encounter with the Dark Continent Expedition arc, along with other adventures the characters embark on.

Yoshihiro Togashi Health and Slowing Releases

It has been known for some time that series creator Yoshihiro Togashi has been suffering from ill health. Owing to poor health the output from the creative genius has been slow and fans at times have feared that things might be coming to a premature close. But the man’s love for his art is great and despite the struggles of not only writing the story but producing the wonderful art to tell the story visually, has been indomitable.

The chapter count now stands at 400. Whilst this was never enough for fans who simply wanted to get lost in the world of Hunter x Hunter, something is better than nothing. Critically, with a top-class manga and anime IP, the focus is always on quality, not quantity. So what could we as fans expect to come from this? More quality output that could lead to an anime restart is certainly one of them.
