Grammys 2026: Doechii Wins Best Music Video for “Anxiety”

In case you haven’t been paying attention, Doechii is currently unstoppable. The “Denial Is A River” rapper recently snagged the trophy for Best Music Video for her hit single Anxiety at the 2026 Grammy Awards. This marks the second golden gramophone she has scored in two years. It proves that her 2025 win for Best Rap Album (Alligator Bites Never Heal) wasn’t just a fluke – it ended up being a prophecy.

A Visual Masterpiece Takes the Grammy

The Grammy 2026 Best Music Video competition was both diverse and pretty stiff. The “Anxiety clip, directed by James Mackel, went toe-to-toe with some heavy hitters. We’re talking about Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild,” Clipse’s “So Be It,” OK Go’s “Love,” and Sade’s emotional “Young Lion.” Any other year, OK Go’s kaleidoscopic stunts might have taken it home (they are the only other previous winners in this category), but this year belonged to Doechii.

The video’s producer, Jolene Mendes, accepted the award, giving a shoutout to the massive creative team behind the project. “This could not have been done without the 200 people who worked on it,” Mendes said. It takes a village (and some talented dancers) to make art look this good, and clearly, the Academy took notice.

From “Sleeper Hit” to Grammy Gold

The funny thing about Anxiety is that Doechii actually didn’t even see it coming. Per The Standard, in a candid red carpet interview, she admitted that the track felt like a throwaway at first. It lived quietly online until the internet did what the internet does best – TikTok demanded she drop (release) it, and suddenly a personal, vulnerable track about mental health became a worldwide anthem. It also birthed a pro-mental health and community well being website, AnxietyIsWatchingMe.com. Doechii spoke about the song’s resurgence, stating:

“I mean, it’s completely changed my life…It’s also inspired me that, you know, all of the songs that I think are probably throwaways, could be sleeper hits… drop [release] the music.”

It’s a lesson for every creative out there: stop overthinking it. Your “trash” might be the world’s treasure (and your ticket to winning a Grammy). It’s also noteworthy Doechii has created a safe and relatable space for her fans. Those who want to talk about their issues – such as anxiety and depression – have a space to go.

Doechii: New Era, New Album

So, what’s next for the two-time Grammy winner? A whole new era. Walking the carpet in a stunning Roberto Cavalli gown that screamed “main character energy,” Doechii confirmed she is deep in her bag for the next project. Recently Doechii has confirmed that she teamed up with SZA on the track “Girl, Get Up.”  That should be a powerful collaboration.

“I’m in a different head space, I have a new album coming,” she told reporters. She mentioned that her priorities have shifted since buying her first home. She’s now focused on “beauty, womanhood, and home life,” and if her red carpet look was any indication – beads, natural hair, flowing fabrics – we are in for an earthy, regal, and brave new chapter.

Why This Best Music Video Win Matters

Exploring the bigger picture – Doechii winning Best Music Video isn’t just about winning; it’s about the industry finally recognizing multi-dimensional artistry. She isn’t just a rapper; she’s a visual storyteller who can oscillate between high-energy performance art and raw, even nervous, emotional vulnerability.

Winning back-to-back Grammys in different categories (Rap Album one year, Music Video the next) shows range that most artists dream of. She’s truly dominating the music landscape and the visual medium. Doechii is making it clear that she’s here for the long haul.
