Award-Winning Comedian Trevor Noah Returns To Host Grammy Awards For 6th Time
The Grammy Awards are coming up on Feb. 1, and Trevor Noah will once again serve as host. The award-winning comedian returns for his sixth (and final) time as the master of ceremonies and will also serve as an executive producer for the show. Here is a look at Noah’s career and some of his previous Grammy appearances.
Who Is Trevor Noah?
41-year-old comedian Noah got his start in soap operas and radio in South Africa before he made the transition to stand-up comedy and television. He rose through the ranks quickly, and soon he was hosting sports, dating, and gossip shows. In 2009, Noah was tapped to host the 3rd Annualย South Africa Film and Television Awardsย (SAFTAs), and he co-hosted the reality competition series “The Axe Sweet Life.” The following year, Noah emceed the 16th Annualย South African Music Awardsย and also began hostingย “Tonight with Trevor Noah.” He still regularly performed stand-up, filming numerous comedy specials and taking part in several major South African and international comedy festivals.
In 2011, Noah moved to the United States. Over the next few years, he became the first South African comic to appear on “The Tonight Show” and the “Late Show with David Letterman.” He competed on “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution,” hosted a “Comedy Central Roast,” and filmed multiple stand-up specials. Noah hosted “The Daily Show” through 2022, but he had plenty of other irons in the fire. He started his own international production company. He penned the New York Times best-selling memoir, “Born a Crime,” in 2016. He had a role in an episode of “Nashville,” the mockumentary true crime series “American Vandal,” and Marvel’s first “Black Panther” movie. In 2022, Noah returned to stand-up. He served as host of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2022 and as host of the Grammys since 2021. In 2023, Noah started his own podcast, called “What Now? with Trevor Noah,” and in 2024, he acted in the Jennifer Lopez romantic drama “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.”
