Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts | January 15, 2026
Itโs Thursdayโs daily devotion. The great news is that God breaks barrenness! Throughout the Bible, barrenness is mentioned. However, in each situation, God has a plan to break the barrenness and produce life. In your daily devotion, rejoice that God’s plans for you are always life-giving.
Desire Vs Frustration
God calls Abram, at seventy-five, out of his home country. In Genesis 15:1, God appears to Abram, telling him not to fear and that He is his shield and reward. In verse 3, Abram expresses some frustration at eighty-five: โAnd Abram says, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.โ Abram thinks his servant will receive his inheritance.
His wife, Sarai, is considered barren, as she hasn’t produced a child, and is now old. You may have felt frustrated because the thing youโve hoped for hasnโt appeared. You may feel cheated, forsaken, or forgotten by God. In your daily devotion, praise God that nothing is beyond His reach.
Hope Renewed

Just when Abram thought the chances of him and Sarai bearing a child were past, God tells him something hopeful in verse 5: โLook now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.โ God renames him Abraham, the father of many nations, and says he will produce offspring from his own body. Abraham believes Godโs words.
However, a year later, no son appears. Sarai’s biological clock has crashed, and sheโs lost hope. In Genesis 16:2, Sarai makes a decision: โBehold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid.โ Sometimes, when a promise takes a long time to reach fruition, itโs easy to consider other options. So, at eighty-six, Abraham becomes a father, and he believes this son is the promised heir.
The years continue to pass by, and Abraham is now ninety-nine years old, and Sarai is ninety. His son by Sarai’s maid is now thirteen, but Godโs plan has not altered. In verses 15-16, God changes Sarai’s name to Sarah, and says she will bear a son: โSarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac.โ A child at ninety-nine and ninety? Yet God’s promise comes to pass. In today’s daily devotion, rejoice and be glad that God can break unproductiveness, producing new life.
Hold on to Your Faith
God had a plan all along to produce seed through Abraham and Sarah. God would birth a family through them that would begin the lineage of Jesus. They thought having a child was contingent upon them. It was actually impossible for them, but possible through God.
The passing years seemed unproductive for Abraham and Sarah, but a miracle was on the way. The Almighty doesnโt need your human input, but you need His divine ability.ย All you need is faith. Abraham, the Father of Faith, believed God’s promise.
When Abraham and Sarah believed God for the son He had promised them, they were able to bear after many years, thinking their time had passed. In Thursday’s daily devotion, say this out loud: “I will believe God’s promise no matter the passing of time.”
Promise Fulfilled
This daily devotion shows that when you keep the faith, your promise is born. Genesis 21:2 says, โFor Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age.โ Sarahโs desire is fulfilled, her barrenness is broken, and her son of promise is manifested. In this daily devotion, decide that no matter how long it takes, you’ll never let go of your faith!
