“One Piece” Season 2: Chopper Global Dubbing Released on Netflix
Have you ever had dreams of becoming a pirate and setting sail with a crew? If so, then the Japanese animated series “One Piece” is your ideal show. It showcases the adventures of a teenage boy who captains a crew of pirates. And they have their sights set on finding a treasure spoken of in legends.
Nowadays, “One Piece” is one of the most popular and longest-running anime shows ever. It was adapted into a live-action series and premiered on Netflix some years ago. And it’s been confirmed to be returning for a much-anticipated second season. Recently, Netflix released a sneak peek of the upcoming arc on its YouTube channel. The best part is that it included a first look at a beloved fan-favorite character.
Set Sail for “One Piece”
Netflix’s “One Piece” stars the mischievous, optimistic, and carefree Monkey D. Luffy. He aspires to become the Pirate King and live a life of total freedom. And believes that locating the legendary One Piece treasure is key to this dream. Luckily, he possesses rubber-based powers due to devouring the infamous Gum-Gum Fruit to assist him. The only downside is that he can no longer swim in deep water.
Luffy has put together a crew of colorful characters to aid him in his quest. The first mate, Zoro, employs a distinctive style of swordfighting against their foes. And Nami keeps everyone on track as the navigator while dreaming of mapping the world. Usopp, the slingshot-wielding sharpshooter, can be trusted in a fight despite his timidness. The latest recruit, Sanji, keeps everyone’s bellies full as the suave and amorous cook.
Throughout Season One, viewers witnessed many iconic “One Piece” adventures. Such events included tangling with Buggy the Clown and battling Arlong and his fish-men. Watchers were also introduced to numerous renowned characters aside from the Straw Hat Pirates. And there’s more of that to come with Season Two coming in a few months.
Netflix Reveals Chopper and Future Moments
Earlier this week, Netflix released a trailer for the second season of “One Piece.” It mostly revealed scenes of the Straw Hat Pirates walking together or fighting some foes. And offered a glance at Alvida following her consumption of a Devil Fruit. There was also a moment showing their ship speeding towards a whale. Lastly, the preview showed off the premiere date to be in March.
The most significant highlight, however, was the reveal of Tony Tony Chopper. In the manga and anime, Chopper is the caring doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. He’s also an adorable short anthropomorphic reindeer with a pink top hat. And the creators behind the remake have made the wise decision of keeping this design.
Additionally, the trailer revealed the many voice actors portraying Chopper across the show’s various versions. They were all reciting the same line in their native languages, “Are you . . . feeling better?” The most prominent of them were Mikaela Hoover for America and Ikue ลtani for Japan. Naturally, fans are immensely excited to see more of the iconic antlered doctor. The unfortunate thing is they have to wait until Season Two premieres on March 10.
Final Thoughts
Given what the trailer showed us, Season Two of Netflix’s “One Piece” looks exciting. Luffy and his crew have some rough times ahead of them in this arc. So it’s a good thing they’re getting Chopper as their newest crewmate. It’ll also be cool to see how the show handles Alvida’s transformation.
Another thing I must say is that Chopper looks absolutely perfect for this live-action remake. He adheres to his iconic style while looking immensely adorable at the same time. And I absolutely approve of Mikaela Hoover playing him for the American version. She was perfect as Floor in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” It’ll be interesting to see what Hoover does with this new role on March 10.
