The 5 Best Bob’s Burgers Christmas Episodes to Watch This Holiday Season

Since premiering in 2011, “Bob’s Burgers” has brought the world many memorable episodes. Some of the most favorite are the holiday-themed stories, especially the Christmas ones. They often feature the Belcher family getting into some wacky situation during the season. But they always entwine their tales with the values and spirit of the festive occasion.

There are a total of 14 “Bob’s Burgers” Christmas episodes, each with unique plots. But which ones of them are considered the top five?

5. “Better Off Sled” (Season 09, Episode 10)

Kicking off this “Bob’s Burgers” Christmas special countdown is Season Nine’s “Better Off Sled.” The story follows the Belcher kids (Gene, Tina, and Louise) trying to enjoy some sledding. But their efforts are dashed thanks to Louise’s recurring teenage foe, Logan. Meanwhile, Linda attempts to knit homemade scarves for the kids this holiday season. It entertains all with its simple snow day angle and rib-tickling humor.

4. “The Nightmare 2 Days Before Christmas” (Season 14, Episode 10)

Next up, hailing from Season 14, is “The Nightmare 2 Days Before Christmas.” The Belchers must relocate to Mr. Fischoeder’s somewhat creepy hunting lodge following a power outage. Linda, distraught, insists they bring their decor and tree to the cabin. Unfortunately, they lose the tree, instigating Linda to hyper-fixate on retrieving their misplaced plant. It’s a delightfully strange special that contains “The Shining” references and highlights Linda’s Christmas obsession.

3. “Nice-Capades” (Season 06, Episode 05)

“Nice-Capades” from season 6 is the first special to star Gene, Tina, and Louise. After upsetting a mall Santa, the kids fear getting coal from the actual Santa Claus. Louise suggests they rectify their misdeed by putting on a performance showcasing their good deeds. This special contains catchy tunes, including the one from Tony Award-winner Kevin Kline. And features critically-acclaimed actor and producer Henry Winkler portraying the mall Santa they offended.

2. “Christmas in the Car” (Season 04, Episode 08)

A cartoon family is in a red car at night, surrounded by snowy trees. The parents sit in front, and three kids in the back. They all look content and happy.

In season 4’s “Christmas in the Car,” the Belchers’ tree dies on Christmas Eve. Linda, driven by her seasonal obsession, insists they go out and get another one. They unfortunately anger a candy cane truck driver who makes numerous attempts to harm them. The second-ever Christmas special, this episode features horror vibes while adhering to traditional themes. It also features a humorous yet beautifully animated scene featuring the Belchers’ handyman, Teddy.

1. “The Bleakening” (Season 08, Episodes 06 – 07)

Three animated characters in Viking attire stand in a snowy, windswept landscape. One wears pink bunny ears. The mood is adventurous and determined.

Taking this list’s number one spot is Season Eight’s two-part episode “The Bleakening.” Someone steals Linda’s miniature tree and favorite decorations from her dream-inspired holiday party. At the same time, the kids prepare to face a monster known as the Bleaken. “The Bleakening” possesses toe-tapping musical performances amidst its captivating story and Halloween-esque horror-mystery vibes. And these qualities make it the best “Bob’s Burgers” Christmas special of all.

Final “Bob’s Burgers” Christmas Episode Thoughts

I know all five of these “Bob’s Burgers” Christmas episodes, and they’re definitely the best. They offer unique scenarios for the Belcher family guaranteed to entertain all viewers. And showcase traditional holiday values without making them feel redundant or dismissive. The best part is you can also watch them outside of the yuletide season.

Out of the above selection, my personal favorite is “The Nightmare 2 Days Before Christmas.” The mountain lodge makes me yearn to spend the holidays in a similar location. It was also entertaining to see Linda reach Bob’s levels of obsession over the tree. Regardless, every episode listed is a blast to watch, including those that aren’t. I hope every one of you readers decides to check them out for the holidays.
