Crunchyroll’s Best New Shonen Anime May Get a Season 2 Sooner Than Expected
The online viewing platform Crunchyroll had a productive time throughout 2025. It brought new installments of popular shows, such as “One Piece” and “Fire Force.” And introduced brand-new anime hits, including “The Beginning of the End,” “Let’s Play,” and “Gnosia.”
One show from Crunchyroll that has made quite the impression is the shonen series “Gachiakuta.” People couldn’t get enough of this anime and are eagerly waiting for more. Well, the good news is that there’s confirmation of a Season Two. But when exactly is the much-anticipated second arc of this Crunchyroll hit coming?
Meet Crunchyroll’s Newest Hit 2025 Show
“Gachiakuta,” produced by Studio Bones, debuted on Crunchyroll on July 6. The anime follows a young boy, Rudo, born in the slums of a floating city. He soon finds himself framed for the murder of his foster father, Regto. And is punished by being banished into the polluted and unforgiving wasteland below. Luckily, he crosses paths with someone willing to take him under his wing.
Almost immediately, “Gachiakuta” zoomed to the Number One spot on every Crunchyroll user’s watchlist. Its balance of world-building with a revenge story born from social inequality captivated all. They also love its power system, which emphasizes excessive waste and its unique graphic style. But what brings everything together is the stunning fight scenes and characters.
“Gachiakuta” Season Two on the Way
Earlier this month, news on the second season of Crunchyroll’s “Gachiakuta” appeared on Twitter/X. A message revealed that production for Season Two is underway, pretty much confirming it. Yet fans are still waiting for an official announcement before getting their hopes up. Fortunately, the season finale is happening soon, so one shouldn’t be too far behind.
The message also serves as an indication that Season Two might happen sooner than expected. Season One of “Gachiakuta” premiered a little over a year following its reveal. There’s no reason why the same thing couldn’t happen again with this anime’s upcoming installment. If so, Season Two could likely premiere in the Spring of 2027 at the earliest. Or, if the show’s studio wants to take some extra, Winter of that same year.
However, the suspected earlier release might stem from the limited material from the anime’s source. The “Gachiakuta” manga has more than 150 chapters, and Season One covers 85 of them. Which means Season Two could cover the remaining 65 with a possible reduced episode count. Still, we won’t know for sure until the official announcement eventually appears.
Final Thoughts
It’s honestly nice that “Gachiakuta” from Crunchyroll is getting a second season. To me, it shows that the anime’s creators have confidence in their creation. Especially since so many people adore it and want to see it continue.
Admittedly, I’m concerned that the earlier release could hinder the series’ quality. The Studio Bones production team might rush everything to meet the unofficial schedule. And, in turn, lose their loyal fanbase and any chance of continuing this modern masterpiece. Let’s hope they made the correct choice and let Season Two cook properly. Until then, fans can experience the Season One finale and relive the entire current series.
