Paramount+ Cancels NCIS Spin-Off After 1 Season
Sorry “Tiva” fans. Paramount+ has canceled the spinoff series NCIS: Tony & Ziva after just one season. The streaming service made the decision to end the show, which reunited fan-favorites Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, marking the conclusion of the highly anticipated “Tiva” chapter.
A Short-Lived Reunion
The 10-episode season was a dream project for long-time fans of the original NCIS, bringing back Tony DiNozzo (Weatherly) and Ziva David (de Pablo) a decade after their storylines diverged on the flagship series. The spinoff picked up with the couple living in Paris, raising their daughter Tali (Isla Gie). Their quiet life was upended when they were framed for a global cyberattack, forcing the family to go on the run across Europe to clear their names.
Despite the excitement surrounding the return of these beloved characters, the series will not move forward with a second season.
Stars Share Emotional Farewell
Following the cancellation news, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo released a joint statement expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to revisit their iconic roles.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” the pair stated. They extended thanks to the cast, crew, and production partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+, but saved their biggest appreciation for the audience. “Most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”
Giving Fans Closure
While the series was cut short, the first season did provide significant closure for the “Tiva” romanceโsomething fans had waited years to see. The season finale ended on a high note, with Tony and Ziva deciding to officially start dating again with the blessing of their daughter. The final moments featured a heartwarming montage and a romantic kiss, offering a sense of finality to a relationship that had often been defined by timing and tragedy in the original series.
Showrunner John McNamara was praised by de Pablo for building an “ambitious” world that allowed the show to explore the characters’ psychology and complex past. Although NCIS: Tony & Ziva won’t be returning, the single season stands as a dedicated love letter to the fans who championed the duo for over a decade.
