Daily Devotion For Tuesday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | December 23, 2025

Itโ€™s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. Christmas is just days away as we continue our wisdom series. Solomon repeats a powerful statement by David. As David instructed Solomon to listen to his words, he told him they would add years to his life.

10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

In your daily devotion, declare that youโ€™ll be led by wisdom and be blessed with longevity.

Hear, O My Son

Solomon recalls David cautioning him to hear. Itโ€™s one thing to be physically present while someone is speaking. Itโ€™s another thing to be mentally present. David wanted Solomon to be alert and receptive to his instruction. In Proverbs 1, Wisdom cries aloud in the street, but not everyone hears her. Those going about their way or have other interests don’t listen.

But David wanted Solomon to hear not just with his ears, but with his heart. In like manner, you are to pay attention to wisdom. Say this out loud in your daily devotion: โ€œI will listen and take heed to God’s wisdom.

Receive My Sayings

David knows that Solomon must receive his sayings to be grounded in wisdom. When you receive from the Lord, you surrender your will, thoughts, and emotions to Him. The birth of Jesus shows us that in the fullness of time, the world was set to receive the promised Messiah.

The angel Gabrielle had to prepare Joseph and Maryโ€™s hearts to receive Jesus as a baby, and Savior of the world. They both received the news and acted accordingly. And Mary also rejoiced. In Luke 1:38, Mary replies, โ€œBehold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.โ€

Praise God in your daily devotion, that you receive, joyfully, Wisdomโ€™s sayings and the Lord Jesus.ย

The Years of Your Life

As a father, David wasn’t only concerned with the years of Solomonโ€™s life, but also how he lived them. He wanted Solomon to live a long, prosperous life, but he knew that his adherence to wisdom would determine that. David had fallen in his walk with the Lord, although he is a perfect example of Godโ€™s restoration and forgiveness. In today’s daily devotion, praise God that in Psalm 91:16, He promises long life to those who love Him.

Shall Be Many

God desires to add years to your life. In verse 10, that desire is dependent upon your willingness to hear and obey Godโ€™s word. In 2 Kings 20, Hezekiah was sick, and Isaiah the prophet came and announced a death sentence: โ€œSet thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.โ€ When Isaiah left, Hezekiah began to pray, and before the prophet could walk past the courtyard, the Lord sent him back with a new message. Heโ€™d added fifteen more years to his life.

The Torah, which included the Ten Commandments, guided David and Solomon. In Exodus 20:12, the sixth commandment says, โ€œHonour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.โ€

Solomon lived by this statute. Not only did he honor David as a father, but he listened and obeyed his instructions. Decide in this daily devotion that youโ€™ll live by your Father’s law, and your years will be many.

Final Word

In Tuesdayโ€™s daily devotion, itโ€™s clear that Solomon treasured Davidโ€™s words. He repeated them to his own children, instructing them as David instructed him. This Christmas, let’s notice that as Solomon obeyed his father, so the Son of God obeyed His Father in all things.
