Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | December 18, 2025

Itโ€™s Thursday, and time for your daily devotion. When something is life-giving and essential, it should be treasured. It should be passed down from one generation to the next. Davidโ€™s wisdom is reaching the third generation as his son Solomon keeps his words alive:

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

In todayโ€™s daily devotion, declare that there is nothing more essential than wisdom.

Wisdom is the Principle Thing

The Amplified Classic version says โ€œskillful and godlyโ€ wisdom is the principal thing. When you hear something is principal, itโ€™s time to stop and take notice. Itโ€™s not a time to let your mind drift or become blase. Solomon recalls David counseling him on the importance of wisdom in life.

Not only did Solomon receive Davidโ€™s instruction and receive wisdom from God, but he also became famous for it. In 1 Kings 4:34, Solomonโ€™s wisdom is heralded:  โ€œAnd there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.โ€ Solomonโ€™s wisdom is preserved today, etched in history by the recorders of his day and the men of Hezekiah who copied them out centuries later.

Wisdom doesn’t fade or change like years change. It remains applicable throughout the ages. In your daily devotion, realize that Wisdom is the principal thing in life.ย

Therefore Get Wisdom

As timeless as Solomonโ€™s wisdom is, a greater than Solomon has come, Jesus Christ. In Colossians 1:9, Paul prays that โ€œye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.โ€ God delivered wisdom through Solomon, and we are to receive it and grow even deeper in Christโ€™s wisdom. Throughout time, God has made wisdom accessible to His people. Throughout history, oracles, seers, or prophets, and God Himself spoke wisdom to guide man.

Wisdom is always within your reach, and you are to desire, seek, and obtain it. In your daily devotion today, say, โ€œWisdom is within my reach, and I will obtain it!โ€

With All Thy Getting

Getting is one of the primary focuses of youth. Getting is gathering all you can, whether it be educationally, financially, or professionally. But as youโ€™re getting natural or material things, donโ€™t leave out the weightier matters that will preserve your soul.

At some point in life, youโ€™ll look back and remember some of the mistakes you made along the way. You won’t be able to fix them, although you could prevent someone else from stumbling into the same. But youโ€™ll never look back and regret the wisdom you gained from your mistakes. You may have preferred it to come a different way, but you value the wisdom you learned.

In Thursdayโ€™s daily devotion, thank God that in all your getting, you donโ€™t forsake whatโ€™s most essential.

Get Understanding

The Amplified Classic calls wisdom โ€œdiscernment, comprehension, and interpretation.โ€ Without understanding, one is like a ship without a sail. The Bible records many foolish people who rejected Godโ€™s wisdom. Nabal was a fool because he refused to acknowledge David as Godโ€™s chosen leader; he insulted David and his men and died as a result.

In Luke 12, Jesus tells the Parable of the Rich Fool; while busy storing his wealth, he forgot to be rich toward God. In His parable of the Ten Virgins, five were foolish and lost their place in Godโ€™s Kingdom. Determine in today’s daily devotion that you’ll treasure wisdom and maintain your place.

Final Word

In this daily devotion, learn to see wisdom as the principal thing in life. Its value will never diminish, and it will always serve you well.
