Paul Bettany reveals Vision may be returning to the MCU

Paul Bettany Hints at Vision’s Return in Upcoming Avengers Movie

It appears another veteran hero is set to rejoin the fold for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s grand multiversal finale. In a recent interview, Paul Bettany, who has portrayed Vision since the early days of the franchise, dropped a significant hint that he will be back for a future Avengers film.

Paul Bettany’s Revealing Comments

Speaking with The Telegraph, Bettany casually mentioned his upcoming schedule, which seems to include a trip back to the MCU. When discussing his career and project choices, the actor revealed, “I think I’ve got some Avengers duties next year.” This comment has sent ripples of excitement through the fan community, as it strongly suggests Vision will play a role in the upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Secret Wars.

While Bettany did not specify which film he would be a part of, filming for Avengers: Secret Wars is slated to begin next summer, in 2026. The preceding film, Avengers: Doomsday, has already completed principal photography, making Secret Wars the most likely project for his “Avengers duties.”

The Return of Vision

Paul Bettany has been an integral part of the MCU since its inception, initially voicing Tony Stark’s AI, J.A.R.V.I.S., in 2008’s Iron Man before physically embodying Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His character met a tragic end at the hands of Thanos but was resurrected—in two separate forms—in the Disney+ series WandaVision.

Fans will see Bettany return as the all-white version of the character in the upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest, which is set to premiere next year. His recent comments, however, are the first indication that his character will also be involved in the larger theatrical storyline that concludes The Multiverse Saga.

Assembling for Secret Wars

Bettany is the latest actor to hint at an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. He joins Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, in confirming involvement in the highly anticipated Phase 6 finale. The film is expected to serve as a “reset” for the MCU, bringing together heroes from across the multiverse for a climactic battle. With Robert Downey Jr. also confirmed to return, but this time as the villain Doctor Doom, the stage is being set for one of the most ambitious crossover events in cinematic history.

While Marvel Studios has remained tight-lipped about the full cast, Bettany’s hint provides another exciting piece of the puzzle, confirming that the powerful synthezoid will likely be part of the final stand against the multiverse’s greatest threats.
