Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | December 11, 2025
It’s Thursday’s daily devotion. Our focus is on Solomon, who, as a good father, seeks to instruct his children. He wants to impart unto them something that will enhance their lives. He desires to teach them God’s ways. In verse 2, Solomon admonishes his children not to forsake his teachings.
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
In today’s daily devotion, thank God for fathers who instruct their children in righteousness.
For I Give You
This part of the scripture should not be overlooked. Fathers should desire to give their children something besides twenty-three chromosomes. As their spiritual father, Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, longing to see them and to impart some spiritual gift unto them. Spiritually, impartations are given from someone on a higher spiritual level than the one receiving them. Paul desired that they receive from the Lord through the anointing on his life.
Good Doctrine
A father should want his children to benefit from the wisdom he has gained. In Matthew 7:11, Jesus acknowledges that earthly fathers know how to give their children good gifts. Paul tells Timothy that God’s word is “profitable for doctrine,” and “instruction in righteousness.” Thank God in your daily devotion, for the spiritual as well as natural fathers, who long to impart good doctrine.
Do Not Forsake
Some things in life shouldn’t be forsaken; they should be embraced and treasured. Fathers must teach their children the difference between right and wrong. Solomon offers instruction to his children and cautions them not to forsake it. In like manner, Joshua stood before the children of Israel, offering them death or life, and admonished them to choose life.
A father’s words should impart wisdom and understanding to his children. Proverbs 29:15 cautions that a child left to himself can bring shame. Fathers shouldn’t leave their children’s instruction to chance or leave it entirely up to others. Like Solomon, they must pour into their children teachings that will guide them throughout life.
In this daily devotion, determine to listen to the fathers God has put in your life. Whether it’s your natural father, spiritual father, or father figure, hear the wisdom of their words to gain knowledge and insight to cling to and not forsake.
A Father’s Law
The word of God is the foundation on which a father’s instruction should be built. Psalm 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” Before the children of Israel took possession of the promised land, Moses instructed them to teach the word of God to their children. They were to do this continuously so that both their days would be long and prosperous in the land.
The word of God is transformative and life-giving. Fathers must recognize it as vital to their children’s success. Proverbs 2:6 declares that the Lord giveth wisdom, and “out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” God’s word must be exalted above all things, even above earthly wisdom.
God’s wisdom is always higher than earthly wisdom because God’s ways and thoughts are higher than man’s. Earthly fathers make mistakes, missteps, and misjudgments, but God’s word is always true. Declare in your daily devotion that God makes no mistakes, and His wisdom is perfect.
Final Word
In Thursday’s daily devotion, pray to see today’s fathers taking after Solomon, who steps up to the plate and takes his position as leader of the home. He gathers his children together and instructs them in wisdom that’s established in God’s word. Shout unto God in your daily devotion that God has fathers who give good doctrine.
