Markiplier’s Iron Lung Is Set To Explore the Bloody Depths In January 2026!

If you’ve been refreshing Markiplier’s channel for the last two years, hoping for a crumb of news about his movie, “Iron Lung”, you can finally rest. Mark Fischbach, better known to the internet as Markiplier, finally dropped a trailer and a release date for his expedition into the Blood Ocean.

It All Started With an Indie Game

The source material comes from a little indie horror game from 2022 by David Szymanski. The universe has ended due to an event called “The Quiet Rapture.” All stars and planets are gone, and the remnants of humanity are scavenging for resources. The “Consolidation of Iron” finds a blood ocean on a barren moon, and you—a convict—get welded inside a submarine to explore it. If you want to earn your freedom, you must explore, document, and send back all the data you find below the depths.

Fischbach’s adaptation leans heavily into the lore and the gore, casting gaming royalty Troy Baker, alongside Caroline Rose Kaplan and Elsie Lovelock. Provided by Variety, he addressed the naysayers who told him that taking on a whole movie was a bad idea. “Showed them,” he said. “My bathroom might be a render farm now, but I can’t wait for people to see the blood, sweat, blood, tears, blood, and blood that went into this movie.”

Markiplier Does Self-Distribution For Complete Creative Control

Usually, when an influencer makes a movie, they partner with a streaming giant or a boutique horror label like Blumhouse. But Mark is doing it the hard way. According to reports, “Iron Lung” is bypassing the traditional studio system entirely. Fischbach is working directly with independent theaters across the country to get this thing on the big screen. The target for the opening weekend (Jan. 30 through Feb. 1) is roughly 50 to 100 screens. It’s a limited release, sure, but it lets him maintain total creative control.

Movie Premiere Screening January 29, 2026

Tickets are set to go on sale that Friday, Jan. 29, coinciding with the film’s Los Angeles premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown. Mark has put so much effort into molding, shaping, and bringing this bloody voyage to life. Fun fact to mention: he broke the world record for the most blood used in any movie genre ever, making his film!

The Ultimate Horror Indie Experience 3 Years In the Making!

Markiplier has endured a post-production process that would break most indie filmmakers; however, his sheer will and outcome are testaments to his creative passions. There is still no word if the movie will hit streaming services, but with Mark’s efforts, I’m pretty sure there will be something in the future. For now, if you want to see what lies beneath the surface, you’ll need to suit up and find out for yourselves on Jan. 30, 2026. Congratulations to Markiplier, David Szymanski, and all those who helped them along the way!!!
