Daily Devotion Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | November 26, 2025

It’s your midweek daily devotion. We’re moving forward in our series on Psalm 34. Although David is a warrior, champion, and statesman, he steps into a more practical role: that of a teacher. He’s interested in teaching the next generation about fearing God. In verse 11, he calls:

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

In this daily devotion, notice the impact of great teachers and the necessity of them in your life.

Come, Ye Children

In verse 11, David calls out to the youth. He wants to gather them together to impart something valuable. David has served God since his youth and endured many challenges. He faced Goliath in battle, avoided Saul’s sword, and escaped Gath. In Psalm 27:13, David says, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

There’s a saying that trials will either make you better or bitter. However, there’s no time for bitterness when you’re trusting in God. Turn your trials into lessons. You’ll discover God is faithful. Walking with God teaches you to trust and depend on Him. In your daily devotion, like David, commit to showing others the way to God.

Hearken Unto Me

David doesn’t offer to teach youth how to wield a sword, conquer a kingdom, or serve in Saul’s court. He wants them to know the Lord. When addressing the Corinthian church, Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” Paul was confident enough in his walk with Christ to lead others. Feeling strongly about the gospel message he preached, he said that anyone who preaches a different gospel should be cursed.

Your journey with God should inspire you to pay it forward. Others can benefit from your knowledge. A pulpit isn’t needed. You can be a witness anywhere. In today’s daily devotion, take up the challenge: start investing in the next generation.

I Will Teach You

David takes on this role voluntarily. He doesn’t think himself too high and mighty. He is a warrior who has had great success. Songs have been sung about him. He married the king’s daughter. His best friend is the king’s son. His name is renowned throughout Israel. Yet he selflessly wants the youth of his nation to be filled with the knowledge of God.

Are there young people in your church or community you can talk to? You don’t have to be intrusive. In your daily devotion, decide you’ll plant seeds of wisdom wherever and whenever you can.

The Fear of the Lord

David knows the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. To raise a wise generation, youth must be taught the fear of the Lord. They must have teachers who guide them. Paul told Timothy that the servant of the Lord must be “apt to teach.” David’s life experiences taught him wisdom, fortitude, and faith. On earth, Jesus is called Teacher; David’s desire to teach youth is Christ-like.

Do you desire to bestow wisdom on the next generation? Decide in your daily devotion to pray for those around you, that they have ears to hear and fear the Lord.

Final Word

In today’s daily devotion, David’s zeal to teach youth the way of righteousness is exemplary. As a shepherd boy, David was anointed to be the next king of Israel. He remained humble, trusting in God. What he’s learned, he’s willing to teach the next generation. In this daily devotion, set aside time to share the wisdom you’ve gained in life with young people.
