Choking Risk Prompts Recall of Popular Zippee Toy—Parents Urged to Act Fast
Parents, it’s time to check the toy box. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of the Zippee Silicone Activity Toy on November 13, 2025. The reason is simple and serious: the toy poses a choking hazard.
Mobi Games, Inc., the Canadian company behind Zippee, admitted it knew of an incident where a child gagged after putting the toy in their mouth. The child vomited and was hospitalized. Thankfully, there were no lasting injuries—but one close call is enough to pull the plug.
Recall Details
The Zippee toy is marketed for toddlers. It’s a teal silicone cylinder with six colorful strings to tug. Five of those strings end in little balls, and that’s where the problem lies.
About 117,500 units were sold in the U.S. and nearly 26,000 in Canada between November 2019 and January 2024. Retail price was around $20, and it was available on Amazon, PlayMobi, and in specialty toy shops.
Affected toys carry date codes in MMDDYY format ranging from 030620 to 110823, printed inside the cylinder. If your toy matches that range, it’s part of the effected products.
What Parents Should Do
If Zippee is in your house, stop using it immediately. Don’t wait for “one more play.” The instructions are clear: cut off the spherical ends, mark the cylinder with your initials and the date, and take a photo.
Refunds are available once you register the product online and provide proof that the toy has been disabled. Payments are processed back to the original method or by check. If Zippee were a gift, a photo of the toy and its code would be enough to confirm eligibility.

Why This Matters
This isn’t about overreacting—it’s about preventing a hazard before it happens again. Toys are supposed to entertain, not send kids to the emergency room. Staying alert to these issues, inspecting toys regularly, buying toys from reputable toy makers, and keeping a close eye on your kids while they play are basic steps that keep children safe.
