Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Ends on Spectacular Note
Season Two of “Hazbin Hotel” has been a wild ride, unlike anything anyone has seen. Charlie learned that redemption is possible, prompting her to prove it to Hell. She, unfortunately, is constantly countered by the Vees, especially from Vox the Media Overlord. And Vox has his sights on conquering Heaven and becoming the new God. At the same time, Heaven is adjusting to the fact that redemption was possible.
We witnessed countless intense and funny moments throughout Season Two’s run. But none could compare to what we just saw in the final two episodes. What happened, and how will their events affect the course of the eventual Season Three?
The Biggest Hazbin Finale Yet
“Hazbin Hotel” Episode 2×07, titled “Weapon of Mass Distraction,” picks up immediately after “Scream Rain.” Vox captures Lucifer and plugs him into the cannon constructed by Carmilla. Then Vox fires it at Heaven, destroying the pearly gates and scaring the heavenly inhabitants. Despite this incident, Sir Pentious convinces Sera to be brave and resolve things peacefully. She sends Emily to Hell to help Charlie in her plan to stop Vox.
In “Curtain Call,” the Hazbin staff pulls a heist to stop Vox from invading Heaven. The Vees, unfortunately, intercept them at nearly every turn as Vox gains power and support. It soon leads to an epic and final battle between Alastor and Vox. Afterward, the Hazbin Hotel receives new guests, with Heaven supporting Charlie’s endeavors. The episode ends with Charlie finally getting a return call from her mother, Lilith.
What Next Season Could Be About
It’s still a mystery about what “Hazbin Hotel” Season Three could entail. But a recent interview with show creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano offers us a peek. She admits Season 3 will be more emotional and romantic than the last two. Medrano also hinted at putting more focus on the Morningstar Family. Lastly, she mentioned plans revolving around a character they’ve been building up.
The Next “Hazbin Hotel” Big Bad
Another big question is who’ll take the role of “Hazbin Hotel” Season Three’s main antagonist. Luckily, we have three very viable options as of the Season Two finale. The first is Lute, Adam’s former second-in-command, who’s determined to avenge his death. Previous trailers teased that she’d be a prominent foe, but she never got the chance. This upcoming season or the one after that could rectify that oversight.
The second strong candidate is Valentino, the adult film industry Overlord and Angel Dust’s boss. He takes over as the CEO of VoxTek following Vox’s defeat. And he still has a hold over Angel, whom he regularly abuses. Val would be ideal, though his villain arc might feel redundant since he’s a Vee.
Last in the run for Season Three’s big bad is Alastor the Radio Demon. He’s no longer chained down to Rosie, meaning he can do whatever he wants. Plus, he still possesses an aggressive out-of-nowhere rivalry with Lucifer, which makes him extra dangerous. There’s also the fact that Medrano alludes to him in the previously mentioned interview. But we’ll see who takes the crown once “Hazbin Hotel” returns for its third season.
Final Verdicts and Thoughts
I give “Hazbin Hotel” Episodes 2×07 a 10 and 2×08 a 9.9. “The Weapon of Mass Distraction” succeeded in building the tension for the finale. And “Curtain Call” did well in wrapping things up and generating hype for Season Three. The only issue present was an obvious yet harmless animation error during the final episode. Overall, the two-episode season finisher possessed ideal writing and pacing while delivering banger songs.
As for Season Two overall, I give it a firm 9.5 out of 10. Lute felt underutilized despite previous allusions to her being a prominent antagonist. She did very little regarding her revenge until the very last episode. Nevertheless, Season Two was an incredible arc, and it surpassed Season One in every aspect. It will be interesting to see what “Hazbin Hotel” brings for its next installment.
