Imagine Dragons: Old vs New
So far, based solely on the new single, Eyes Closed, these songs won’t disappoint. In an interview with The Associated Press, Reynolds states that the songs deal with heavy topics but are still playful. The picture on the Loom album shows a sun either setting or rising with two figures standing on either side, separated by the sun. Reynolds came up with the art concept of Loom and saw the sun rise and set.
“You can’t really tell if it’s a sunset or a sunrise, and then there are two people kind of separated standing in front of it. That really kind of sums it up thematically when I listen to it,” Reynolds tells the Associated Press.
Since the band came together in 2008, their music has evolved and become richer and deeper in meaning. Most of the time, the music is derived from Reynolds’s struggles dealing with family, depression, and past pain. “Believer” is a song in which Reynolds sings about physical and mental pain that affects all of us. Songs like Whatever it Takes from the 2017 Evolve album are about Reynolds dealing with self-confidence.
Many of the same topics are covered in other songs. They continue to experiment and push the limits of their genre, which is classified as indie pop, electropop, and pop rock. When they started out in Vegas, they would play at casinos and try to be as loud as possible with their music to be heard over the slot machines.
Imagine Dragons: Past the Breaking Point

In 2022, frontman Dan Reynolds had to cancel the Latin American part of the tour due to his health issues. Reynolds was suffering from several things all at once: a sprained knee, hemorrhaging vocal cords, and a nodule. Taking a break from touring must have been hard on Reynolds, but he remained positive while recovering.
Perhaps singing songs such as Cutthroat, where Reynolds tries his hand at screaming the lyrics at one point, pushes Reynolds’ vocal cords to a point of no return. Hopefully, as Reynolds is now healed and the Loom World Tour starts later in 2024, he won’t have further health issues.
Speaking of Reynold’s health, there are a lot of things going on with him that most people may not fully realize. He has an autoimmune disease and has battled depression since he was a child. With all of those hardships, Reynolds has not had an easy time with his health.
