The Kim Kardashian-led legal drama “All’s Fair” made its debut on Hulu on Tuesday. The streaming network dropped the first three episodes of a nine-episode Season One. New episodes will now be released weekly, culminating in a scheduled season finale on December 9. The series boasts a diverse ensemble cast, as well as notable guest appearances from some big-name stars. One of those surprise guests was singer/actress Jessica Simpson, who hadn’t taken on an onscreen role in 15 years, and her character’s appearance will be shocking for Simpson’s fans. Here are the details.
The Premise Of “All’s Fair”
The series centers on an all-female law firm of lawyers who left behind a male-dominated firm to start their own practice — Grant, Ronson, and Greene. The idea is to begin a powerhouse firm of women representing women. Much of the plot will be based on revenge, both for the lawyers and their clients.
The “All’s Fair” Cast
The ensemble cast features a lot of familiar faces. Kim Kardashian takes top billing as divorce attorney Allura Grant. Naomi Watts plays Liberty Ronson, another divorce lawyer. Niecy Nash-Betts is the firm’s chief researcher, Emerald Greene. Teyana Taylor plays assistant and newbie lawyer Milan. Glenn Close plays Dina Standish, a partner at the firm from which the central characters have left. Sarah Paulson will play the new firm’s chief rival, divorce lawyer Carrington Lane. Matthew Noszka rounds out the main cast as Allura Grant’s husband, Chase Munroe.
The list of recurring and guest characters is just as impressive. Besides Simpson, Judith Light, Ed O’Neill, Steven Pasquale, James Remar, Elizabeth Berkley, Eddie Cibrian, Rick Springfield, and David Paymer all play roles. Jennifer Jason Leigh and Brooke Shields have also been confirmed for future roles.
Jessica Simpson’s Shocking Guest Appearance
Simpson makes her shocking appearance in Episode Three as Lee-Ann Hunt. When Hunt found out that her husband Tommy was cheating on her, she got plastic surgery to try to keep her man. The surgery did not go well, and now parts of her face are immovable. Simpson wore prosthetics for the role, enlarged fake cheeks with sunken undereyes, a nose piece, and large, glossy lips. The look reportedly took about eight hours to complete.
The role was Simpson’s first onscreen appearance since she played herself in an episode of “Entourage” in 2010. Simpson has spent much of the past 15 years out of the public eye. Parenting has kept the mother of three busy, and she has also started several business ventures, including clothing lines, fragrances, bedroom decor, and more.
