5 New Albums To Check Out On October 10, 2025
Friday is almost here, and that means new albums. This week’s #NewMusicFriday features new releases from Khalid, Madi Diaz, Yellowcard, and more. Here is a look at this week’s new music and five new albums that you definitely need to check out.
Khalid โย After the Sun Goes Downย (RCA Records)

Platinum-selling R&B singer/songwriter Khalid launches his fourth full-length album on Friday. After the Sun Goes Down is an upbeat look at the complexities of love. After seeing his private life made very public, Khalid decided to boldly, freely put his lifestyle on full display for all to see. This album channels that escape from living in fear and celebrates empowerment, freedom, lust, and love. The album’s first single, “In Plain Sight,” dropped on August 15.
Madi Diaz โ Fatal Optimist (Anti- Records)

Madi Diaz returns with her follow-up to last year’s Weird Faith. Fatal Optimist, the folk pop singer’s seventh full-length release, is a break-up album through and through. Diaz’s poetry of rage is on full display throughout, as it barrels headlong through all the stages one endures when recovering from heartbreak. Fatal Optimist exemplifies the rollercoaster ride through the dark that is falling into and out of love. The raw emotion of the offering rings clear on the first single, “Feel Something.”
Yellowcard โ Better Days (Better Noise Music)

Better Days is the eleventh studio album by Jacksonville alt-rockers Yellowcard. The new album, produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker, feels like the band has gotten back to the formula that was so successful on their first three albums back in the 2000s. The title track was the band’s first to top Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart after its release in late May. Fans of Ocean Avenue should dig Better Days.
Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe โย Liminalย (Verve)

Liminal is the third collaboration between English experimental artists and producers Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe. The new album follows the release of their two previous successful collabs, Luminal and Lateral, earlier this year, and is a happy medium between the two. The album aims to be a mysterious journey between still life and dreamscape. A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Eno is best known for his time in Roxy Music and for producing albums for artists like David Bowie, U2, Coldplay, and Peter Gabriel. Wolfe is known for creating new genres of music and has previously collaborated with Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) and Michael Stipe (REM).
Rhett Miller โย A Lifetime of Riding by Nightย (ATO)

A Lifetime of Riding by Night is folk rocker Rhett Miller’s tenth solo album. Miller recorded the 13-song new album in the looming shadow of serious vocal chord surgery. He co-wrote the songs with the help of Evan Felker of Turnpike Troubadours, Jesse Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms, Caitlin Rose, Nicole Atkins, and former New Yorker editor Ben Greenman. The album definitely reflects on the mortality we all face, but also focuses on the love we all need. Recovered now, Miller embarks this month on a nationwide tour in support of the album.
