Wicked For Good

Wicked For Good Final Trailer Features Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Back in Oz

The final trailer for Wicked For Good has dropped, and it promises us plenty of Oz thrills and heartbreak. It also teases that yes, we will be seeing the main quartet from The Wizard of Oz, although they will be unknowingly be sent to defeat the heroine we love. Of course, we also get plenty of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) trying to work out their complicated relationship, along with snippets from the musical’s stellar songs.

The trailer opens with Glinda putting on her iconic crown, seeming to symbolize the choice she made in the last movie. As we remember from the end of Wicked Part One, Elphaba and Glinda are now fighting on opposite sides. Elphaba has gone rogue after discovering the truth about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), while Glinda continues to work for the Wizard and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), though Glinda still genuinely cares about Elphaba.

In the trailer, Glinda is presented with a machine that lets her travel by bubble, much like she does in the original Wizard of Oz story, but it is mechanical, showing that, like the Wizard, she has no real magical power. Elphaba, meanwhile, is a real witch, which makes her a threat to the Wizard. Madame Morrible explains that Glinda must be a symbol of hope for the people of Oz. Of course, the reason why Oz needs a symbol of hope is that the Wizard and Madame Morrible have built Elphaba up as a dire threat.

Wicked For Good Trailer Teases Heartbreaking Twists and Familiar Oz Moments

Throughout the trailer, we see familiar Wizard of Oz imagery, which is sure to give audiences both warm nostalgia and dread, since everyone knows how the story will end for Elphaba. Perhaps the most heartbreaking moment in the trailer is Elphaba witnessing Dorothy’s house come flying in through the tornado (which Madame Morrible seems to be causing), since we know that the house will kill her sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode).

In addition to the Wizard sending the four main Wizard of Oz characters on their quest to defeat Elphaba, we also have some new shots of the Tin Man crying out, “What have you done to me?” and the Cowardly Lion flinching away in fear. The original story’s lead characters might play a larger part in Wicked For Good than we originally thought.

When Does Wicked For Good Come Out?

Wicked For Good is set for release on November 21, 2025, and it’s basically guaranteed to be a holiday hit like the first movie. Of course, moviegoers might be entering the theater with a sense of dread, since we all know things will not end well for Elphaba, but even with the unhappy ending, we will be singing the songs all Christmas long, just like we were last year.
