American Idol Season 24 Brings Back Ryan Seacrest as Host

Ryan Seacrest is back! America’s sweetheart and favorite host will return to American Idol season 24 next year. His dazzling smile and show-stealing style set the stage for every episode. Seacrest has hosted the show since season one aired in 2002. As each season changes and brings in new faces, the lovable host holds the spotlight and is a familiar face to America. Ryan Seacrest will be joined on stage by returning judges, Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.

Seacrest Returns, Powering Idol Forward

American Idol season 24, or season nine since changing to the network ABC, will air next year. However, many fans have recently been worried about Ryan Seacrest’s future on the show. A recent promo announcing the return of the judge trio from last season did not include Ryan Seacrest, which was a red flag. But what is American Idol without Ryan Seacrest?

Long-time viewers did receive the news on September 9th that Seacrest will return to host the next season of American Idol. Seacrest’s delayed announcement could be because he is currently the host of several shows on TV and radio. And has dealt with family health issues, Ryan Seacrest has revealed that his 81-year-old father was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Ryan Seacrest: Dominating Screens and Airwaves

Ryan Seacrest is one man who keeps a job and wears many hats. Seacrest became a household name and face after becoming the solo host of American Idol season 2. When he is not hosting American Idol, he is the host of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve”. Seacrest host his radio shows, “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and “America’s Top 40. “

As much as he is in front of the camera, you can also find him behind the camera as executive producer of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “E! Live From the Red Carpet”. Currently, Ryan Seacrest is single but has been romantically linked in the past to “Dancing With the Stars” host Julianne Hough and his most recent ex-girlfriend, model Aubrey Paige.

From Golden Tickets to Global Stars

In 2001, American Idol reignited the trend of televised talent competition shows. Over the years, many people hoped to receive a golden ticket and change their lives. The stage of American Idol has birthed artists like season one winner Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Jordin Sparks, and current judge Carrie Underwood. The show premiered on the Fox network with judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul. American Idol was shortly cancelled in 2016 but found new life and a new home on ABC in 2018.

American Idol season 23 recently wrapped up on May 18th, 2025. The winner was Jamal Roberts, a gym teacher from Mississippi. Season 24 will start next year, but the audition process has already begun. The audition process has changed over the years; in earlier seasons, judges would travel to several cities for contestants to live auditions. Currently, auditions can submit a video to the official American Idol website. Another way to audition is through live virtual auditions over Zoom, where you can meet with a producer face-to-face. When contestants click on the website, there will be options to choose a state and a time slot.
