Crystal Lake

‘Crystal Lake’ Showrunner Presents Night-time Sneak Peek

Friday the 13th fans can now scream with joy because Crystal Lake is coming! To elaborate, it’s an upcoming series that predates the first Friday the 13th movie. It will showcase the events that led to the rise of the infamous Jason Voorhees. Essentially, it explains how he became our favorite machete-wielding ghoul.

Most updates regarding Crystal Lake talk about who’s joining the cast and their roles. However, the newest one is more about the filming location for the series. Care to discover what exactly this recent report is all about?

Current Crystal Lake Information

Crystal Lake is a prequel series to the first Friday the 13th film. While the show’s actual premise remains unknown, it’ll likely tell the story of Pamela Voorhees. She’s the psychotic, serial killing, yet loving and overprotective mother of Jason. And Linda Cardellini, renowned Scooby-Doo and ER star, will portray her for Crystal Lake.

Alongside Cardellini is a cast of talented actors like William Catlett and Callum Vinson. Aladdin alumnus Brad Caleb Kane is serving as the writer and producer for the prequel. And Blairstown, New Jersey, is serving as the series’ filming location.

New Update Regarding This Prequel

Recently, Kane shared a Crystal Lake post on his Instagram account. It’s a pair of photos showcasing the iconic titular lake at nighttime. And one of them had a message about doing a night shoot. Other than that, there was no critical information regarding the show.  The sneak peek was likely to excite the loyal fans and draw in new viewers.

These pictures also confirmed that the series is returning to the franchise’s roots. This aspect is indeed good news for the more hardcore Friday the 13th fanatics. Still, Kane’s post was likely to get people thrilled for this upcoming prequel. We’ll hopefully learn more once the next update for Crystal Lake is released.

Final Thoughts

I’m honestly neutral about Crystal Lake and this new update regarding it. I’ve never been into the Friday the 13th franchise and movies. The only film I saw was the 2009 reboot/remake, and I barely remember it. I do recall watching and enjoying the flick where he fought Freddy Krueger. But I’m not sure if that counts as a Friday the 13th feature or not.

As for this show, the entire premise sounds quite interesting. I like the fact that it will be a series instead of a single movie. It convinces me that the crew will handle the story structure and characters properly. Plus, it’ll be interesting to witness the events that canonically lead to Jason’s murderous rise. And they’ll likely come to Peacock either later this year or possibly early 2026.
