Daily Devotional Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | October 30, 2025

It’s Thursday’s daily devotion, and Apostle John has more insight to share about love. In 1 John 3:15-16, he calls those who are haters like Cain, murderers.

15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

In your daily devotion, focus on the God kind of love that loves His people.

Don’t Hate

John appeals to believers not to let hatred, which can turn into bitterness, enter their hearts. In the Beatitudes, Jesus condemns hatred and equates it to murder. Believers are to forsake anger and hate, and embrace love and forgiveness. Harboring hatred means you agree with Satan rather than with God.

Hatred stirs division and strife, which have no place in God’s kingdom. Hatred leads to rejection and condemnation. Often, it leads to smear campaigns that negatively influence others. In Ephesians 4:31, Paul says believers are to put away bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, and malice. In today’s daily devotion, renounce practices that don’t lead to God’s love.

Love of God

The love of God is the opposite of hate. And it has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit. You’re not alone; the Holy Spirit helps you to love. How does God’s love look? In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul says that love is long-suffering, kind, and truth-loving; it’s not envious, arrogant, self-seeking, or easily provoked.

As Jesus taught on love, He said we’re to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect (in love). In your daily devotion, thank God that the Holy Spirit helps you to love.

His Life for Yours

Jesus demonstrated love when He laid down His life for ours. Christ was the sinless lamb of God. Spotless and pure, He was willing to come into the world and become one of us. He personified and taught us love. In the fullness of time, He went to the cross in obedience to God’s will to put sin to death, offering salvation for all.

In this daily devotion, be grateful that Christ gave His life for yours.

Emulate Christ

There is no greater love than that. You’re not hoping you’ll die for others, and John isn’t advocating your death. Rather, he’s emphasizing the depth of Christ’s love. Jesus went to the cross, not because He wanted to die, but because His love for you is so great. He was willing to sacrifice His life for your eternal life. Your love must be sacrificial, as well.

In your daily devotion, meditate on the love Christ has for you, knowing that it is the true measure of love.

Final Word

In today’s daily devotion, John doesn’t sugarcoat love. It’s not just a cozy, warm feeling; it’s unselfish and sacrificial. Love has no room for hate. Satan is the original hater. Before the world was established, he hated God and desired to defeat His power and preeminence. Cain hated Abel, so he murdered his own brother. Hatred leads people down dark paths.

However, God’s love leads to eternal life. When you love, you agree with God’s word and emulate Christ’s teachings. If your love is weak, worship and praise Him for His great love for you. The Holy Spirit will open your heart. When God commands us to do something, He provides the help we need to do it. In your daily devotion, praise God that He gives you the power to love.
