Mocktails & Magic: 5 Halloween Drinks Everyone Can Enjoy

Not every Halloween drink needs to come with a potion warning or a hangover hex. Whether you’re hosting a haunted bash, wrangling little goblins, or just vibing with your cauldron and cat, these mocktails are here to deliver flavor, flair, and a whole lot of festive weirdness. From creepy classics to tropical tomb treats, we’ve brewed up five simply spooky mocktails that’ll charm your guests and keep the spirits strictly metaphorical. Skill levels range from “I own a spoon” to “I moonlight as a mixologist,” so grab your beakers, syringes, and skeleton swizzle sticks—it’s time to conjure some sippable magic.

5 Simply Spooky Halloween Mocktails

1. Creep Shirely Temples – Skill Level 1

We all know a classic Shirley Temple.  It is what most of us looked forward to ordering when we went out to dinner with our parents.  To be honest, the Shirley Temple may be the OG mocktail.  Now, let’s take that nostalgic drink and spookify it.  While browsing the internet for inspiration for mocktails to serve at our Halloween party, I knew this was where I needed to start.  And guess what? You do not need to change the taste or the ingredients at all.  Because Boulder Locavore said, “Why change a classic when you can change its appearance instead!”

The OG Ingredients

  • Ginger Ale (classic version) or Sprite, 7-Up, or your other preferred lemon-lime soda (modern version)
  • Marischino Cherries
  • Grenadine
  • Drinking glass of your choice
  • Straw (optional)

The Spooky Twist

  • Switch out your traditional glass for a beaker
  • Fill an oral syringe (a syringe without a needle) with the grenadine

Directions: Take your beaker and fill it with the liquid of your preference (chill the soda beforehand).  Drop 2 cherries into the soda, and then take your syringe of “blood” and set it in the beverage.  Let your guests have the fun of squeezing it into their Creep Shirley Temple, so it can be to their taste preferences.  Need a straw to mix the ingredients for your guests?  Try this one.

2. Sleepy Hollow – Skill Level 1

Sometimes, when you are out late and you have been working all week, you just need a small pick-me-up to get back in the Halloween celebration mode.  This Sleepy Hollow mocktail will not only deliver on flavor, but put a little pep in your step so you can do the Monster Mash or the Time Warp again.  Monin keeps this caffeinated mock martini simple by making the main ingredients for you.  All you need to do is mix it up and serve it to your guests.  Increase your skill level by adding a rim and/or a drizzle.

The Ingredients – Always Mix to your taste

  • 3/4 oz. Iced Coffee Concentrate
  • 3/4 oz. Pumpkin Spice Syrup
  • 2 oz. half & half
  • 1 or 2 dashes of whole allspice

Suggested Twist – Add Both or Just One

  • Add a rim to your mock martini.  Before you pour the drink, roll the rim in water to moisten it.  Then, add a rim of pumpkin spice & sugar or powdered sugar & cinnamon.
  • Add a chocolate or caramel drizzle inside the glass before you pour. Remember to use a syrup that is thicker and in a bottle for better control, and so that it doesn’t disappear when you add the drink to the mix!

Directions: Mix the ingredients in a shaker. This is best chilled.  Feel free to make your glasses with rims ahead of time, so all you have to do is shake the Sleep Hollow and pour.

3. The Coconut Corpse- Skill Level 2

Think of a tropical Halloween adventure.  This drink will make you want to take a stroll through a graveyard and enjoy the darkness of the night as you sip on a Coconut Corpse.  Who doesn’t enjoy a little bit of paradise while enjoying the spooky season? Think of this drink as a tropical graveyard getaway with the help of SOBERish Mom.

The Ingredients – A Tropical Halloween Oasis

  • 2 oz of coconut milk (whole works best, feel free to substitute based on your preference)
  • 2 oz of a non-alcoholic Tequila (I found this on Amazon, but check your local shops too)
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • juice of one lime – remember to taste!
  • Rim: honey + coconut flakes

Something to Try – Level Up Your Skill

Directions: Mix the ingredients.  This is best chilled: Shake in a shaker with ice and strain, or make a larger batch ahead of time and chill in the fridge until you are ready to serve.  Feel free to make your glasses with rims ahead of time, so all you have to do is shake the Coconunt Corpse and pour.

4. Witch’s Vineyard – Skill Level 1.5

Fruits are essential to our daily nutrition, so why not take a drink that is known for using fruits and make a mock variety of it?  Welcome to the Witch’s Vineyard, full of your daily fruit intake, and still keeping it Halloween-ready.  So, get ready for a mock sangria that delivers in flavor and witchery all at the same time.

The Ingredients – Eye of Newt & Toe of Frog

The thing with Sangria is the longer the ingredients hang out together, the better the flavor.  Feel free to make this 24 hours in advance.

  • Sparkling Grape Juice or Non-alcoholic Red Wine
  • Club Soda for extra bubbles
  • Fruit Juice
    • Pineapple, Cranberry, Pomegranate, or even Orange Juice – Your taste matters
  • Frozen Fruit and Fresh Fruit
    • Try black grapes, blood oranges, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, green apples, or even pomogrante arils – again, it’s to your taste

A Suggestion for You to Eye

  • Take canned lychees and stuff them with blueberries.  Now you have a real Eye of Newt to add! Thanks to Sweet Tea and Thyme for the pro tip.

5. Bloody Mary – Born Halloween Ready Skill Level 2

This drink may have survived with Sunday brunches, but it was born for Halloween. The Bloody Mary has many styles, and the one below is just one.  Be creative and move your skill level up on your own.  Also, don’t forget to know your audience because not everybody loves tomato juice, and some may not tolerate spice well.  If they don’t, you can always tell them to opt for the OG Bloody Mary… so you can point them to the nearest bathroom and remind them to shut off the lights, look in the mirror, and repeat “Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary.”  Maybe they will give the drink a go instead.

The Ingredients – Mock the Mary

Mix up the ingredients below and serve over ice.  Then, dress it up with the snacks and rim ideas!

  • 1 cup tomato juice (V8 is great!)
  • about 2 oz of non-alcoholic Vodka (this can be omitted if you want)
  • about a tablespoon of dill pickle juice (omit or add to taste)
  • 2-5 dashes of Tabasco or Siracha (to taste)
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce (vegan Worcestershire if you have people with allergies or dietary restrictions)

Scaryify the Mary and Level Up

The one thing about a Blood Mary is that she is always overdressed.  Here are some suggestions for you to make your Bloody Mary Mocktail one that will be asked for again and again, even if there is no alcohol in it.   Because this drink is more than a drink, it is a whole appetizer.

The Snacks

  • Celery or Candied Bacon make great swizzle sticks and munchies for Bloody Marys
  • Pearl Onions
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • Cornichons
  • Wedge or Wheel of lime
  • Green or Black Olives
    • Take the pit of the olive out and stuff it with blue cheese
    • Brunch and Batter suggests taking mozzarella balls and slicing the olives (to look like an eyeball), putting them on a cocktail pick or skewer to add a creepy eyeball treat to your drink

The Rim

First things, first… wet the rim.  You can use lime juice (preferred), water, or simple syrup

  • Old Bay – This is a Maryland classic rim and adds all the flavor you need and expect
  • Tajín – This chile-lime seasoning picks up on the lime juice in your drink & kicks up the spice/tang in the flavor
  • Bacon Salt – need I say more?
  • Salt- You can play with this one by adding other spices like paprika, brown sugar for a BBQ flavor, or whatever you can imagine. Try out this Black Salt for an extra Halloween feel.

Directions: Mix the ingredients; again, feel free to make a large pitcher of it and chill it ahead of time, and pour into the glasses when ready. If you are feeling up to it, you can create a Bloody Mary bar – picture it: a long table with mirrors on the wall behind it, glasses with various rim seasoning choices,  various bowls full of skewered eyeballs, tomatoes, pearl onions, and other toppings, where the guests get to make their poison.

Final Thoughts

There are plenty of spirits on Halloween, your drinks don’t need to be. With a little creativity and a lot of sass, you can serve up spooky sips that are just as enchanting as their boozy counterparts. Whether you’re summoning a Creep Shirley Temple or crafting a Coconut Corpse, each drink brings its own brand of Halloween charm. So raise your glass—rimmed, garnished, and possibly eyeball-adorned—and toast to a night of frightful fun without the frightful morning after. Cheers, witches.
