Daily Devotion Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | October 8, 2025

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for your daily devotion. Continuing with Paul’s letter in Philippians 2:2, where he urges the church to walk in unity, he goes even further in verse 3.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

In your daily devotion today, disallow anything that would hinder unity in the body of Christ.

Allow Nothing

Paul makes it clear that they were not to engage in behavior that doesn’t meet the high standard of God’s word. Among believers, walking in unity is a standard that mustn’t be compromised. Nothing of a worldly or sinful origin should ever be placed above walking in unity. In today’s daily devotion, take a stand to protect the unity in your local church.

Strife

Strife isn’t a good behavior to engage in within the body of Christ. The Bible has much to say about forgoing strife. In Proverbs, strife is associated with pride, and it’s compared to one who releases water, thereby starting a flood. In other words, strife can quickly turn from a sprinkle to a torrential downpour. One look of animosity can turn into warfare.

Therefore, believers are to guard their emotions. Instead of lashing out at others, go to God in prayer and seek His guidance. Study scriptures that teach on unity and love. Exercise meekness and temperance, as they are fruits of the Spirit. Practice peace, for Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” for they are the children of God.

In your daily devotion, let this Wednesday’s wisdom lead you to refuse strife and walk in peace.

Vainglory

What is vainglory? It’s arrogance and conceit. Neither has a place in the body of Christ or in the life of a believer. If there’s an attitude of vainglory, then sin has already entered, and you must remove it. As believers, we can’t walk in unity with arrogance. In verse 14, Paul also warns them against murmurings and disputings. These also create disunity in the body of Christ.

Complaining, gossiping, and arguing only stir up strife. In your daily devotion today, commit to avoiding anything that causes strife.

Lowliness of Mind

To practice lowliness of mind is to walk in meekness. This doesn’t imply that you’re weak; rather, it reveals that you’re in control of your emotions. You don’t fly off the handle at the drop of a hat. You seek God’s counsel first. You realize that anger rests in the bosom of fools. The Bible admonishes us to be angry but not to sin. It’s human to become angry, but believers are not to take out their anger on others.

In today’s daily devotion, commit to walking in the lowliness of mind that Christ exemplified throughout His ministry.

Esteem Others

We must not only practice humility by walking in meekness, but we must also regard others respectfully. It belies the integrity of believers who walk in disregard or contempt of others. Jesus esteemed our needs greater than His throne in glory. As Paul says in verse 7, Jesus emptied Himself to become a servant. He served mankind by redeeming us from sin on the cross.

In turn, we must treat others with love and honor. In your Wednesday devotion, determine to esteem others higher than yourself.

Final Word

In today’s daily devotion, Paul doesn’t mince words in his letter to the Philippians. He is straightforward in telling them what behaviors aren’t acceptable in the body of Christ. They began by joyfully walking in the word of God, and Paul wants them to continue to flourish. We must be willing to lay aside strife and vainglory. In lowliness of mind, we must esteem others by putting them first.

Paul doesn’t ask that you undervalue yourself, but that you practice humility by walking in love toward others. Decide that, in this daily devotion, you’ll do whatever it takes to rise above strife to maintain unity.
