Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | October 2, 2025

Thursday’s thoughts for today’s daily devotion turn to the Apostle Paul. As he listed the items of our spiritual warfare, surely a feeling of fire and determination emanated from him. He was a lion, a fighter, and even though he was in prison, he didn’t let that silence him. Paul was committed to Christ and to the good fight of faith.

In Ephesians 6:19, as previously mentioned, Paul asked the Ephesian church to pray for him,

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel

Let’s examine Paul’s prayer request in today’s daily devotion.

Pray for Utterance

In verse 18, Paul admonishes believers to pray in the Spirit. He wants to steer them from praying with their own understanding or with earthly wisdom. He wants their prayer to be inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit. In chapters 1 and 3, Paul gives them examples of his own spirit-led prayers.  Paul asks them to pray that his speech, deliverance, and vocalization of the gospel be unhindered.

Paul isn’t interested in being the most dynamic speaker. He wants to preach the gospel with clarity and power. As an apostle called by God and not by man, he is anointed by God to preach the gospel to the lost, win souls for Christ, establish churches, ordain leaders, and then entrust them with the gospel.  In today’s daily devotion, think about asking others to pray for your utterance.

Pray for boldness

With utterance, Paul needs boldness. He desires they pray that he “may open his mouth boldly.” Paul wants his lion to awake. Boldness and skill are necessary to win the lost.  In Jude 22-23, Jude states that while some will be saved by compassion, others will be saved by fear. In other words, only the fear of hell’s flames and eternal damnation will snatch some out of the fire,

Paul will need the might of the Holy Spirit to be with him as he delivers God’s word. It is the word of God that saves the lost. Like Paul, we must be aware that we need the power of the Holy Spirit. We may not have the same calling as Paul, but we need the Holy Spirit’s boldness in whatever we’re called to do. In today’s daily devotion, think of the work God has called you to and pray for boldness.

Pray for Revelation

Paul needs utterance and boldness to reveal the “mystery of the gospel.” Is the gospel a mystery? It is to those who are lost. It is to those in darkness. Paul asks for prayer that light penetrate darkness. He wants the lost to hear the gospel, receive it by faith, and commit to living for Christ.

He prays they believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths that God raised Jesus from the dead and that He is Lord. Then they will understand the mystery which was hid in God from the foundation of the world. Thank God, in today’s daily devotion, that the mystery of the gospel has been revealed to you.

Ambassador in Bonds

Paul mentions boldness again in verse 20, as he recounts his current locational status: “For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” An ambassador is one sent as an emissary or representative to a foreign land. God sent Paul to dark territories where the light of the gospel had not yet penetrated.

He was called to step into the enemy’s territory. As anointed as Paul was, he didn’t regard himself as above needing the prayer of others. And neither should you. Take the time to thank God, in your daily devotion, for being an ambassador of Christ. Also, acknowledge your need for prayer.

Final Word

If the great Apostle Paul was humble enough to recognize his need for the prayers of others, so should we. As believers, we are called to pray for one another, interceding for their boldness in the faith and for their fulfilling God’s purpose. We’re not to encourage silence, shyness, and inactivity. But we’re to pray that others open their mouths boldly and speak that the gospel be revealed in dark places.
