The Exciting Official Trailer for ‘Spinal Tap 2 The End Continues’ Hits at Comic‑Con Ahead of September 2025 Release
So does Spinal Tap 2 The End Continues trailer go up to 11? Or possibly 12? We’ll see! In this film, which is (somewhat of) a continuation of the first film we find the band is getting back together! It looks to be for one more final concert in New Orleans. Maybe they need to have some of their contractual obligations filled? This is where the new story begins.
What was This is Spinal Tap About?
As rock documentaries were all the rage, in 1984, a British hard rock/heavy metal “band” called Spinal Tap allowed a film crew to follow them. The mockumentary showed the trials and tribulations of the band, the quirky – and often dysfunctional props, and their inability to keep a live drummer. It also focused on their manager and what he had to go through to get “the show on the road.”
The flick starred Michael McKean as David St. Hubbins, Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls, and Rob Reiner as Marty DiBergi. They reprise their roles for this movie. Also featured is Fran Drescher as Bobbi and Paul Shaffer as Artie.
In the 2nd movies’s trailer there are several cameos. We see a couple scenes with Paul McCartney and Elton John. Also, we may get a few more drummers making cameos, to include Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Lars Ulrich from the band Metallica. If you remember, the band went through their share of drummers. It’s rumored that they had 11 drummers. Most of them sadly met with a deadly fate.
What Else Happens in the Spinal Tap 2 The End Continues Trailer?
St. Hubbins is singing with a mariachi band, Tufnel is with a folksy pub band (and he may be a fromager?), and Smalls is working in bitcoin. Can they get back together? More importantly – can they find a percussionist who might live long enough to complete a setlist?
The 2nd movie’s trailer was shown Thursday night at San Diego Comic-Con. This is Spinal Tap was considered a cult movie, and loved by musicians around the globe. Often times, director Rob Reiner stated that he would be asked if the band were real.

Fun fact: all members of Spinal Tap are actually musicians as well as actors. Additionally they have played a few gigs from their documentary fame. So the burning question is: will this sequel deliver for its premier on September 12th? Will their Stonehenge be bigger than 18 inches? We shall stay tuned!
