Daily Devotion Monday Motivation with Total Apex Media | September 29, 2025

It’s Monday, and time to be motivated! Today’s daily devotion leads us to Ephesians 6:16. In our God’s armor series, Paul has been listing the armor believers need for spiritual warfare. If you’ve noticed, all the items so far have been defensive in purpose. Paul turns to another important defense mechanism, the shield:

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

“Above all” are two words that cannot be overlooked. They emphasize the importance of the shield. “Above all” means it’s of utmost value and necessity. There is none greater to the believer than the shield of faith. Without faith, you cannot please God. It takes faith to receive salvation. Believers walk by faith and receive by faith, according to Mark 11:24. In your daily devotion, declare faith to be above all.

Shield of Faith

Roman soldiers’ shields were made of such materials as wood, iron, and leather. Shields enhanced soldiers’ defense in battle by protecting them from the enemy’s swords and projectiles. Without shields, soldiers were wide open to the enemy’s attacks. Shields also protected soldiers while they fought with their weapons. Their shields were designed to deflect outside forces.

The shield of faith protects you against Satan’s onslaughts. Faith protects you against doubt, unbelief, and the deception of the enemy. The enemy will attack you through people. He will attack you physically, mentally, and emotionally. However, Isaiah 54:17 confirms that no weapon formed against you will prosper. Faith forms a barrier that Satan’s weapons cannot penetrate.

In today’s daily devotion, thank God that the shield of faith protects you against Satan’s attacks.

Power and Ability

The words “wherewith ye shall be able” reveal that God has empowered you with power and ability through your spiritual armor. With your spiritual armor, you are undefeatable to the enemy. Believers don’t have to live defeated lives. They can stand in God’s armor. And the shield is above all.  In our daily devotion, know that the only way a believer can stand is to stand with God’s armor.

Quench Fiery Darts

The shield of faith quenches the fiery darts assailed at you from enemy lines. You’re not in the enemy’s realm, so he has to attack you from a distance. He hurls fiery darts meant to break through and create a breach in your faith. He wanted to attack Job, but God had a hedge around him. Only when the hedge was removed could he launch his attacks.

Your shield is like Job’s hedge. It protects you against Satan’s darts of destruction. They’re fiery because they’re lit with all the evil and diabolical intent the enemy can muster up. He’s out to get you, but with the shield of faith, you can’t be defeated. In today’s daily devotion, meditate on God’s word that declares you are protected.

Something you must know about the enemy and his minions is that they’re wicked. This means Satan and his cohorts are abominable. In other words, they’re doomed for destruction. They’re abominations to God; therefore, they have no hope of salvation. The enemy’s fate is sealed. Since it can’t be reversed, he’ll take down as many as he can. He has nothing to lose; he’s already doomed.

As a believer, you have the upper hand. Although the enemy wants you to fear him, Jesus has defeated him. He only has the power of influence. He has to deceive you first. If he had the power, he’d capture you. But he cannot. He cannot penetrate your faith when you stand in the authority Jesus gave you. In today’s daily devotion, thank God that you’ve been given authority over Satan.

Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” The Greek word translated as “power” means authority.

Final Word

In this daily devotion, you’ve learned the importance of the shield of faith. It’s your strongest defense against the enemy’s attacks. The enemy can’t even reach the previously listed items when your faith shield is up. So take your shield and stand in the power and authority you’ve been given. You’ll quench the fiery darts of Satan and his abominable force, who cannot shatter your faith.
