The Story of Sense and Sensibility

Sisters Elinor and Marianne, along with their mother and younger sister, are left struggling financially after the death of their father. Elinor is calm and practical, while Marianne is passionate and emotional. Their lack of money ends up being an obstacle for both sisters when they fall in love: Elinor with the wealthy Edward Ferrars and Marianne with the dashing John Willoughby. The new film will star Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor, and Esme Creed-Miles as Marianne.
The Co-Stars
Six new actors were recently added to the cast: CaitrÃona Balfe (Belfast), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), George MacKay (1917), Herbert Nordrum (The Worst Person in the World), Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet), and Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter series). It is currently unknown who will play which role, but it appears that the movie is more concerned with finding strong leads than star power.
What is the Best Movie Version of Sense and Sensibility?

The most acclaimed adaptation is the 1995 version, directed by Ang Lee, and starring Emma Thompson as Elinor and Kate Winslet as Marianne. The movie was hailed for its Oscar-winning screenplay, its splendid cast, and its rich atmosphere. Thompson and Winslet are a treat to watch as their conflicting personalities interact. It remains to be seen whether or not the new movie can live up to the 1995 version. The new version of Sense and Sensibility currently has no release date, but that gives you plenty of time to read the novel and see the 1995 version before it comes out.
