Daily Devotional: Feel Good Friday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | September 19, 2025

It’s Friday! Your daily devotion begins now. The expression “God is good” has become a popular catchphrase. In some communities, when you say “God is good,” the response is “all the time!” It’s cliché almost. Some say it when something good happens for them. And some put a little laughter behind it. God is indeed good. It’s His innate character.

How do you know someone’s character? You know them relationally. Otherwise, your judgment is based on hearsay. There is no background, experience, or personal knowledge to base your assessment. David concludes Psalm 100 with praise for God’s goodness, because throughout His entire life, God has been good to him. This is how he puts it in verse 5:

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

David was the writer of many psalms. Throughout them, he praises the Lord in good times and bad. He cries out to God in his darkest moments, and then he praises God for His deliverance and goodness. In Psalms 34:8, David invites us to “taste and see” that God is good. In other words, get to know Him. Personally experience the goodness of God; it is available for everyone.

In Psalms 118, David begins by encouraging us to thank the Lord for His goodness. Scripture declares that God is good to all, the just as well as the unjust. So, instead of quoting a catchphrase, get to know Him. He is a relational God. He created man for fellowship, and His arms are always open toward us. In today’s daily devotion, recall a time when you personally experienced God’s goodness.

Everlasting Mercy

Mercy is a flow of God’s goodness. Because of God’s goodness, His mercy is extended to us. For our sins, we deserved God’s wrath. Instead, Jesus bore our sins and the punishment we deserved. The Hebrew word for mercy is plural because God’s mercies are so great. They can’t be expressed in singular form. Lamentations 3:22 declares that God’s mercies are what keep us alive.

Not only is God’s mercy great toward us, but it is everlasting. In other words, it has no end. Also, God displays His creativity through His mercy. Verse 23 of Lamentations 3 proclaims that every morning He shows us mercy in new ways.

David knew a thing or two about God’s mercy. David had gotten off track. He lusted, committed adultery, and then murder. When David cried out to God, he pleaded for the multitude of His tender mercies. David knew God was merciful. Deserving condemnation, David received God’s mercy. In today’s daily devotion, praise God for His everlasting mercy toward you.

Enduring Truth

Enduring truth is truth that lasts for eternity. God’s word is truth, and it will never pass away. Many translations use the word faithfulness rather than truth. Faithfulness is an attribute that reveals God’s nature. God is faithful to His people. He doesn’t react to man’s wrongs as a man, but He acts according to His faithfulness. God’s faithfulness is on full display in the Old Testament.

Though His people were rebellious and disobedient, Scripture uses the imagery of God carrying them on eagle’s wings. Take time to meditate on God’s faithfulness to you in today’s daily devotion.

All Generations

God’s goodness, mercy, and faithfulness didn’t extend just to David’s generation, but to all generations. God’s mercy reaches your generation and the generations that follow. His faithfulness has nothing to do with our faithfulness to Him. Faithfulness is who He is eternally. And His faithfulness will never end.

In today’s daily devotion, rejoice that God’s goodness extends to all generations.

Final Thoughts

In today’s daily devotion, as you consider God’s goodness, consider it from a participatory role rather than as an outside observer. The only way to know God is good is to be in a relationship with Him. We are encouraged throughout Scripture to seek the Lord, call upon Him, and draw near. These are invitations that invite us to experience His goodness, mercy, and faithfulness for ourselves.
