Today’s Faith: Seeking Peace And Love (Colossians 3:14)

Today’s Faith requires you to walk in peace and love. Yes, it’s Labor Day and you’ve got cookouts to goto. Just keep this thought in the back of your head. Today we travel to Colossians 3:14.

Some days, it feels like peace and love are the very things missing from the world around us. You turn on the news, and there’s another story that unsettles you. You walk into work or school, and tension seems to hang in the air. Even in our homes, the people we love most can frustrate us, and suddenly peace feels like it slipped right through our fingers. Yet in the middle of it all, God whispers to His children, “There is a better way.” That better way is found in peace and love.

Now, peace and love aren’t just pretty words that sound nice on a card. They’re powerful forces when lived out in the ordinary routines of life. Love keeps us connected when differences threaten to divide us. Peace calms the storms inside us, even if the storm outside rages on. When we put these two virtues together, life feels less like chaos and more like the melody of God’s presence.

Choosing Peace and Love Every Day

Peace and love don’t happen by accident. They happen because you decide, before your feet hit the floor, that your day will be marked by Christ’s presence. It means choosing to pause before you fire off that quick reply. It means leaning into forgiveness when resentment would be easier. It means asking God to soften your tone, even when you’re sure you’re right.

I’ll be the first to admit, living this way is not easy. But it is freeing. Peace doesn’t depend on the absence of problems. It depends on the presence of Jesus. Love doesn’t depend on whether people “deserve it.” It depends on whether we are willing to reflect the One who loved us first. That’s why Paul says love binds everything together in perfect unity. Without it, our faith unravels.

And here’s the thing: people are watching. They notice when you respond with grace instead of anger. They notice when you extend kindness instead of judgment. That kind of witness speaks louder than sermons or speeches. When peace and love flow through you, others catch a glimpse of the Savior who lives in you.

Imagine the difference in your family, your workplace, even your neighborhood if peace and love defined your presence there. Arguments would lose their grip, bitterness would lose its sting, and the unity of Christ would take root. That’s the life we’re called to, and it’s the life that changes the world.

Colossians 3:14

“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

A Prayer For You

Lord I’ll be the first to admit: It’s a fight to keep peace, and it’s a journey to find authentic love out here. My mistake begins doing this without you. Forgive me Jesus, and help me shore up my thoughts with your Word. Help me wake up with hope when everything around me seems depressing and stressful. Help me put on a real smile and mean it. My world gets complicated at the worst of times. This I know, with you leading the way, I’ll always have a testimony of how I got through it all. Amen.  What will be your peace today?
