Daily Devotional Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | 8/20/25

Today, in Wednesday’s daily devotional, let’s tap into God’s wisdom by focusing on an essential element in the life of believers: the fruit of the Spirit. There are 9 fruits of the Spirit presented in Galatians 5:22-23 by the Apostle Paul, who’d received great revelations from God about living in the Spirit.

Paul knew that to be pleasing to God, we would need His Spirit within us. So, these fruits are characteristics that should be evident in the lives of believers. Let’s examine these fruits in our daily devotion.

Love, Joy, and Peace

All of the fruits are important, but Jesus said people would identify Christians by their love.  Jesus said the greatest of the commandments is to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. So, without love, there is no real Christianity. Christianity is based on love. Love is vital. 1 John 4:8 says, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

Joy is listed high because it strengthens us. Joyfulness is an important mark of a Christian because how can we walk with a God who is good and not be joyful? To say that God is our loving Heavenly Father, yet be unhappy, is incongruent to faith. Faith is trusting in a powerful God who empowers us. The joy of the Lord is our strength.

God promises to keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him. When your mind is tormented, and peace seems distant, examine your thoughts. If our minds are stuck on the cares of life, we won’t be at peace. But when we release our problems daily into God’s hands and stand on His word, we’ll have peace. In today’s daily devotion, let’s cultivate these 3 fruits.

Long-suffering, Gentleness, and Goodness

Long-suffering is tested just as its name implies: by suffering long. No one likes to suffer; however, suffering is a part of life. The earth was cursed when Adam fell, and Satan usurped his authority. Therefore, great suffering came into the world. But Christ has redeemed us and supplies us with endurance. Every trial has an expiration date. When we trust God, we’ll endure to the end.

As Christians, it’s important to have gentleness. We don’t bite people like vipers or cut them with sharp and bitter tongues. Ephesians 4:32 teaches us to be kind and tenderhearted. Jesus is our example, and He didn’t mince words with the religious leaders of His day. However, Jesus taught and healed all who came to Him with gentleness and kindness.

God is good, and His children are to be like Him. We were made in the image and likeness of God. And since Jesus restored us to our original identity when He defeated the enemy, our lives should daily reflect the fruit of His Spirit. Praise God for His goodness shown in us in today’s daily devotion.

Faith, Meekness, and Temperance

Faith is how we access all things spiritual. We can’t come to God without believing that He exists. We can’t pray without faith or receive anything from God without faith. And we cannot please God without faith. But when we have faith, we can speak to mountains, and they will move.

Meekness is one of those characteristics that most people would rather not be associated with. It’s often confused with weakness. To many, meekness implies they’ll get run over by people.  The word seems to suggest you have no power and must be submissive to all. However, meekness is contained strength.

Just because I have the power to run over anyone who gets in my way on the road, why would I? Meekness means you’re surrendered to God and you wait for His direction. Praise God in today’s daily devotion for confidently walking in meekness.

Temperance is another characteristic that must be practiced intentionally. Temperance means being even-tempered, calm, and patient. It’s not a good witness as a Christian to walk around angry. Ecclesiastes 7:9 says that “anger resides in the lap of fools.” So learn to be calm and peaceful.  Anger, according to James 1:20, doesn’t communicate God’s righteousness.

Final Thoughts

After examining the fruit of the Spirit in today’s daily devotional, let’s assess our spiritual fruit. Do we walk in love, peace, joy, and temperance, along with the other fruits of the Spirit? If not, let’s get closer to God daily through times of prayer, reading the word, and seeking His guidance. Then the fruit of the Spirit will grow in our hearts and be characterized in our lives.
