Today’s Faith: An NFL Preseason-Framed Faith Will Lead To Victory!
Just like the NFL Preseason, today’s faith is calling on you to suit up for the season ahead. We’re in that time of year again—when the pads come on, the playbooks open, and the hopeful roar of fans fills the air.
The NFL preseason is more than just a warm-up; it’s a proving ground. And oddly enough, it mirrors something deeper: the spiritual preseason we often find ourselves in. The quiet before the calling. The preparation before the purpose. You may not be stepping onto a turf field today, but make no mistake: Your faith is in training. And today, it’s calling on you to suit up.

NFL Preseason and the Faithful Heart
The NFL preseason is a paradox. It doesn’t count in the standings, but it counts in every other way. Coaches watch closely. Rookies fight for a spot. Veterans sharpen their edge. It’s a time of testing, refining, and readiness. Welp, faith works the same way. We often think of the big moments: Those “Touchdowns of life” are where our faith shines. But it’s in the faith fundamentals, those daily disciplines, the unseen obedience, where faith is truly forged.
God doesn’t just show up on game day. He’s in the locker room, the weight room, the film study. He’s in the mundane, preparing us for the miraculous. So if today feels ordinary, don’t dismiss it. It might be your preseason. And the way you show up now determines how you’ll stand when the pressure’s on.
Training for the Trials Ahead
In football, the NFL Preseason is where players learn the system, getting familiar with the rhythm, the expectations, and the team culture. Mistakes are made, but grace is given. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress. It’s about trusting the system set in front of you. Faith is no different.Â
God doesn’t expect you to have it all figured out. He’s not grading your performance with a clipboard and whistle. He’s inviting you into the process. Into the rhythm of grace. Into the daily walk that builds spiritual muscle. Maybe you’re fumbling a bit right now. Maybe your prayer life feels like a dropped pass.
Maybe your trust is shaky, your hope benched. That’s okay. The preseason is where you learn to play again, where you remember the playbook, where you get back in sync with the Spirit. Don’t wait for the regular season of life to start living faithfully. Suit up now. Show up now. Train now.
Bible Reading Suggestion
Hebrews 12:1–2 reads:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
This passage reminds us that we’re not alone in our training. There’s a legacy of faith behind us and a Savior ahead of us. The race isn’t about speed; it’s about perseverance. And Jesus isn’t just cheering us on; He’s running with us. He’s already blazed the trail. All we have to do is follow.
A Prayer for Today’s Faith
Lord, today I feel like I’m in the preseason of something. I don’t see the full picture yet, but I feel like you’re preparing me. Help me to train well: Pray honestly. Help me be ready when my number is called in life. I’m ready to win. Amen.
Closing Thought
Faith isn’t just for the highlight reel. It’s for the drills, the sweat, the prep. If today feels small, remember: every great season starts with a preseason. And God is coaching you through it. What does your faith look like today? I’d love to hear from you. Reply below and I might just reply back!
