Beach Read by Emily Henry

Beach Read is a romance novel published by Emily Henry in 2020. The book follows a romance writer and a literary author who engage in a surprising summer romance after the two discover that they are staying in neighboring beach houses. Both determined to spend the summer searching for inspiration and hoping to cure their writer’s block, the duo strikes up a bargain: They will each write one book that summer in one another’s genre, hoping to break out of their recurring patterns and pen something new.

Henry is known for other fan favorites such as Book Lovers, People We Meet on Vacation, Happy Place, and Funny Story. A film adaptation of Beach Read is currently in the works, although not much is known about the project yet. However, many fans have already voiced their opinions on who they want to play the romantic leads, with names like Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri being thrown around. Despite these popular fan casts, no casting information has yet to be officially confirmed. To read more about the upcoming film adaptation, find more details here

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Told throughout the course of several years, Every Summer After follows childhood best friends Percy and Sam as they reconnect one summer as adults and relive their wonderful memories together. Described as a nostalgic examination of love and the choices we each make, Every Summer After chronicles the duo’s relationship over their six summers together and then one weekend in the future. It is a story of first loves, rekindling past flames, and reconnecting with old friends.

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

The third book in the Part of Your World series, Just for the Summer, follows a man and a woman who enter into a fake dating arrangement to increase their chances of meeting their soulmates. Per Goodreads, “Justin has a curse: Every woman he dates goes on to find their soulmate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.”

So, was it fate that brought them together? Will their crazy plan work? Or will the two find themselves falling for one another?

Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan

According to Goodreads, Same Time Next Summer is “The ultimate summer nostalgia read, about an engaged woman who comes face to face with her first love who she hasn’t seen in fourteen years, but who she spent every summer with from age five to seventeen when he broke her heart, calling into question everything she thought she knew about their love story, and herself.” The main character, Sam, finds herself facing a tough choice when she comes face to face with her first love. She suddenly must decide between her current fiancé and her old flame, the memories of whom come flooding back once she sees him again. Is there a connection as undeniable as it once was?
