5 Best TV Shows to Stream on Tubi Right Now

Much of Tubi’s current content appears to be low-budget horror/thriller movies, documentaries, or true crime pieces. For example, there is currently a documentary detailing the rise and fall of Diddy called TMZ Presents: The Downfall of Diddy. However, there are also seemingly many high-quality Tubi Original TV shows to choose from when browsing the app. In this article, I’ll break down 5 Tubi Original TV shows that appear to be worth your time!

When curating this list, only Tubi Original TV shows were considered. However, tons of other shows are available to stream on the platform, but they didn’t originate on Tubi itself. Popular shows currently available for streaming include Scandal, Empire, and Everybody Hates Chris, among many others. Several throwbacks are available as well, with Tubi home to nostalgic classics like Bewitched, Columbo, The Jeffersons, and I Dream of Jeannie. But back to the Tubi Originals!

Tubi Original TV: Big Mood

In Big Mood, Nicola Coughlan and Lydia West star as two best friends who are learning to live outside of their long-lasting codependent relationship. The duo tries to branch out as life looms big for each of them, attempting to rely on each other less to make it through the good and bad times. Can the duo figure out how to navigate their relationship in a healthy way? Or will their individual challenges prove to be too much this time?

A 30-minute comedy, Big Mood is a quick, easy, lighthearted watch that explores heavier themes. For example, several storylines throughout the six-episode season include mental health struggles, reproductive rights, and grieving the loss of romantic relationships.

One thing I loved about this show is that Coughlan and West’s characters are depicted as real, flawed people who grow and change as they journey (and, oftentimes, struggle) through life. In today’s culture of seemingly unattainable and unrealistic perfectionist standards that everyone appears to be striving for, this show was a breath of fresh air. It wasn’t afraid to explore the complex messiness of being human, and it didn’t shy away from difficult topics. Stream it today!

Tubi Original TV: Boarders

Boarders is a Tubi Original comedy-drama series following the lives of five Black teenagers who are awarded scholarships to an elite boarding school. According to the show’s synopsis, “When the teens arrive, they find a world of lush playing fields, cloistered grandeur and complex social rules which they must quickly decipher in order to survive.”

Exploring themes of race and class, this show examines many systemic issues still prevalent in today’s society while also sprinkling in the classic elements of teen dramas, chock-full of uncertainty and angst against the backdrop of coming-of-age. Check out the Rolling Stone’s review of Boarders here!

Tubi Original TV: Dead Hot

Dead Hot is a comedy-thriller that follows the lives of two individuals, Elliot and Jess, as they seek to uncover details regarding the mysterious disappearance of their boyfriend and twin brother, respectively. Per IMDb, the show explores themes of love, loss, and identity as the duo search for answers. But will they find more than they bargained for? Dead Hot stars Bilal Hasna, Vivian Oparah, and Olisa Odele and is currently available for streaming on the Tubi platform.

Tubi Original TV: House of Heat

A drama-filled reality series, House of Heat appears to be the perfect summertime watch! The show focuses on adult creators who all move into a content house in an effort to grow their various social media followings. If you like the messiness of Big Brother, Love Island, and Are You The One? this is a great show for you!

Similar to most reality shows, a lot of its drama comes when adults are forced to live under the same roof for an extended period of time, finding out the hard way just how compatible or incompatible they all might be.

Tubi Original TV: Murdered in Paradise

Murdered in Paradise is a true crime, documentary-style TV show following the lives of one couple whose vacation turns deadly. With episode titles like “Bludgeoned in Bali” and “Killing in the Caribbean,” this show is bound to satisfy any true-crime lover’s wildest dreams. Per the synopsis, Murdered in Paradise explores “Idyllic vacations turned deadly, unraveling mysteries of betrayal, deceit, and gruesome murder.” If that’s your vibe, be sure to check it out!
