Summer Movie Releases

The summer movie season is just kicking off! Show me visiting old friends to see continuing stories 2025 summer season is looking to be one heck of a season for movies. There are so many movies to watch that is hard just to pick one, so grab your popcorn and your favorite candy because here are at least five movies that we are excited for this summer.

5 Much Anticipated Summer Movie Releases of 2025

1. Thunderbolts*

Marvel’s summer season seems to be in full gear for this release. This being the second film of the year for them, the Thunderbolts* seems to be one of the most anticipated films, a summer movie to be released from the studio. This movie sees the return of Jelena Bolova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hanna John-Kamen), U.S.Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylendko) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) with new addition Bob (Lewis Pullman).

The marketing for this feature has probably been one of the best marketing campaigns we have seen since the first Deadpool movie. Not only are we hyped to see the Thunderbolts*, but we are keen on seeing where they go after the summer movie is over and what their part will be in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. Thunderbolts officially hits theaters May 2, 2025.

2. Final Destination: Bloodlines

The Final Destination series has probably been one of the bloodiest franchises in cinematic history. Now it’s set to make its return to the big screen and make it a summer movie in Final Destination: Bloodlines. A family must survive death itself after finding out their grandmother eluded death when it was her time. What we like about this premise is that it’s looking back at what would happen if someone survived and lived a full life, just to have their family targeted by the entity of death.

This movie also marks the final performance of the legendary actor Tony Todd as the mortician William Bludworth, who was featured in three installments of the series. This movie is definitely set to have some pretty gnarly death scenes, which I think will bring this series back to where we loved it. Final Destination: Bloodline officially hits theaters on May 16th, 2025.

3.  28 Years Later

Another horror series making a comeback, 28 Years Later, is set years after the events from 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. The original film was released in 2003, which starred Cillian Murphy and was directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, Yesterday). 28 years later sees Boyle returning to the director’s chair with a brand-new story set in the 28 Days Later universe. With this summer movie, you will be able to see how everybody has been living since the day the “Rage” virus spread across the world.

This film features the likes of Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes jump into this world as we are introduced to a community that is cut off from the world on a small island but when Jamie (Johnson) and his son leave the island on a mission they are introduced to the work of darkness that plunges the world. Not only are we looking forward to seeing what this time period is like for the people of this universe, but we are also looking for to what is in store for this series’ future. 28 Years Later officially hits theaters on June 20, 2025.

4.  Lilo and Stitch (Live Action)

This summer movie is definitely worth bringing your Ohana (Family). Disney has not necessarily been very successful with their live-action adaptations of some of their animated features. There are a few that are watchable, but box office-wise, they were duds. But Disney might actually have hey success on their hands in the form of a little blue alien. This live-action adaptation of Lilo and Stitch follows Stitch, an escaped alien who arrives on Earth and meets Lilo, a little girl who is lonely.

They form a friendship and bond that not even an alien police force or social workers can come between. The original animated film came out in 2002 in was a big hit at the box office. This also spawned two TV series, two straight-to-DVD sequels, and even a ride at the Disney resorts.  Lilo and Stitch have never been far from our hearts and minds, which is why we are looking forward to seeing this live-action adaptation. Lilo and Stitch officially hits theaters on May 23rd, 2025, making up for a perfect summer movie outing.

5.  Karate Kid: Legends

It’s about time that this summer movie series kicks its way back into the theaters. Karate Kid: Legends is set to see the return of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio as their respective characters of Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso. And with the ending of the Cobra Kai TV series, no time is like the present to see how this film series will do in 2025. KK: Legends sees Mr. Han ask for Daniel’s help to retrain a student in Miyagi-Do three years after the events of the Cobra Kai series.

Originally, Chan’s character was set in a whole different universe from the original timeline of The Karate Kid, but now seeing two masters of Karate and Kung-Fu come together to help out the next generation of Miyagi-Do is very exciting!! The summer movie, Karate Kid: Legends officially hits theaters on May 30, 2025

Those are just a few of the most anticipated movies coming out this summer!! What are you guys looking forward to seeing in 2025? What’s got you so hyped that you can’t wait to get in a theater seat and watch it on the big screen? Feel free to let us know, we would love to hear from you!!
