Godzilla Minus One, Coming to Streaming: June 1st

Another Godzilla film is available on streaming! The film, which is available NOW on Netflix, centers on the giant monster Godzilla terrorizing Japan. Per The Verge, Godzilla Minus One is “set during the very tail end of World War II after the nuclear bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and tells the tale of how a devastated Japan is mobilized back into action by the sudden arrival of a 164-foot-tall reptilian behemoth that breathes atomic radiation.” Read more of their review here! 

Am I OK?, Coming to Streaming: June 6th

This Dakota Johnson-led indie film, which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2022, is available on streaming NOW! The movie, which was released on Max on June 6, tells the story of two best friends who, after 30 years of friendship, discover there is more to each other than they thought. Throughout the course of the film, the duo’s friendship is thrown into chaos, and each woman embarks on her own journey of personal growth.

The New York Times describes the film as an “expansive friendship comedy about coming out in your 30s and finding yourself.” The film, directed by Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, stars Dakota Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno, Kiersey Clemons, Molly Gordon, and Sean Hayes.

Hit Man, Coming to Streaming: June 7th

The Glen Powell-led film became available on Netflix on June 7. It follows an undercover police officer (Powell) posing as a professional hitman in order to help a distressed wife escape her abusive husband. While on the run, the pair wind up closer than either of them expected. Hit Man was directed by notorious director Richard Linklater, who also made films such as Before Sunrise, Dazed and Confused, and Boyhood.

Monkey Man, Coming to Streaming: June 14th

Monkey Man, starring Dev Patel, follows the life of a young man who participates in an underground fight club as a means to infiltrate the city’s elite population. After being fed up with their unfair treatment, the man goes on a rampage to seek revenge against those who once took everything from him. In addition to starring in the movie, Patel directed the film, which was also produced by filmmaking legend Jordan Peele. Monkey Man will be available to stream on Peacock on June 14.

Fancy Dance, Coming to Streaming: June 28th

Starring Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone, Fancy Dance depicts a woman named Jax who is raising her niece on the Seneca-Cayuga reservation. Much of the movie involves the search for Jax’s sister, who has gone missing, and how the disappearance affects Jax and her niece. The movie was completed last year but struggled to find distribution after its debut. Fancy Dance is coming to Apple TV+ on June 28.
