Bridgerton: The Best Is Yet To Come For Season 3 Wallflowers

Bridgerton’s wallflowers are finally ready to come off of the wall to showcase season 3. Now fans can binge watch the four episodes until Netflix releases the rest of the season in June. In the episodes, we are finally seeing the point of view through Penelope and another Bridgerton sister, Francesca.

Viewers will quickly notice that there is a stark change in how society is being portrayed. In this season, viewers are finally seeing the Regency world around the characters through the eyes of the two wallflowers (introverts), Penelope and Francesca. This season is all about seeing the people around you in a different light than what we are used to seeing in Bridgerton.

The Season of the Wallflowers

Minor SPOILER Warning!

Both characters are completely different from the previous diamonds of society, Daphne Bridgerton and Edwina Sharma. In this season, Penelope is on her third year out in society while Francesca is debuting into society.

Just like the previous seasons, the episode opens with another Bridgerton sister preparing to be presented to the queen. We find the Bridgerton family huddled around another bedroom door, waiting for another Bridgerton to come out of the room. Thinking it was just like how Eloise had in season 2, they seemed worried and pointed out how quiet the room was while someone was playing the piano.

We then discover that Francesca is already dressed and ready to go as she plays the piano. Except, Benedict points out that she is playing Mozart’s Funeral March. She may be ready but “it’s just another day” to Francesca and she is ready to accept a peaceful life with a kind man, not a love match.

For Penelope, she has always been a wallflower and discovers she and Francesca have more in common than she realized. It’s pointed out by Francesca how she seeks quiet and solitude over the loudness her family brings though she does love them. Although Penelope would love to marry for love, she starts to accept that love may not be in the books for her and looks for a practical match too.

It’s Difficult to Come Off the Wall

Bridgerton’s season 3 already feels different for the viewers and the show has a great job in showcasing how different it will be to the previous seasons. During the first ball, we find Penelope showcasing her glow-up to society, but still resigning to her usual position near the wall to watch everyone else’s lives go on while hers is barely even lived in.

We also find Francesca standing next to Penelope welcoming herself as a wallflower, showing how different she is from her sister, Daphne. For Daphne, she was thrilled to be the season’s diamond and looked forward to this day just like their youngest sister, Hyacinth. For Francesca, she does not want the attention that comes with being the diamond of the season.

A Practical Match for Bridgerton’s Wallflowers

In each episode, the viewer does not see society and the balls the same way that it was seen in the first two seasons because of both women’s feelings toward the societal rules. Both women are facing their future in different but similar ways. Both are nervous but Penelope wants that love but knows it might not be attainable for her while Francesca just wants a peaceful life.

The sparkle of the previous two seasons is gone and what remains is the feeling of not belonging. Both women are different and present themselves in a way that ensures they receive as little attention as possible. The two introverts would rather remain in their bubbles, both for different reasons, but still in a place where they can be safe and hidden away.

Bridgerton’s Wallflowers: Introverts and Society

Being an introvert and someone odd can make society disregard you. For example, Lord Debling is talked about constantly for loving to speak about nature and not eating meat. Even the queen regards Lord Debling as boring

The second Penelope emerges into society with her glow-up, she grabs everyone’s attention, even Colin who stops mid-sentence in awe because of her. However, even that glow-up does not stop her from being the wallflower she chooses to be in front of society.

Although we only had a small glimpse into the personalities of this season’s main characters, we have yet to see what is to come. Let’s hope that these wallflowers are ready to get off the wall and confidently embrace who they are in front of society.
