Andor Season 2 is kicking off to a great start. Season 1 is the setup for a lot of characters’ stories, season 2 seems to be the top of the rollercoaster that is this Star Wars show. With Andor being the setup of Rogue One, that means a lot of characters will have their time to shine, but only 3 are winning the limelight in Andor Season 2.
Andor Season 2: Mon Mothma
This long-time Star Wars character has been with us since the Return of the Jedi, and made appearances in the likes of the Revenge of the Sith (deleted scene), Rogue One, Rebels, and Ahsoka. Mon Mothma has always been the face of the rebellion, besides the core three (Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo), and has always seemed to keep her hands clean when it comes to the subject of war. In this series, we see that man is willing to sacrifice anything to get the rebellion started, even if that means her family, friends, and associates. She’s already dealing with issues within her own family and trying to balance out raising money for the rebellion to come.
We ultimately know that the war between the empire and the rebels is going to happen. But it’s just a matter of time before it’s going to happen. We are three episodes into Andor season 2, and so far, we’ve seen Mon having to marry off her daughter just so that the rebellion will have funding for this upcoming war. With her daughter now being married, what else is she willing to sacrifice in order to get the means to start this war? We will see as this series goes on, that she will become the face of the rebellion.
Dedra Meero
Dedra Meero has always seemed to want more approval when it comes to the Empire. Born to criminal parents who were arrested when she was three, she ended up being raised essentially by the Empire. When we meet her in season one, she’s eager to be the top brass. Dedra is someone who needs to be in control, and that mostly comes from her upbringing. Things change when she starts a relationship with Syril Karn in Andor Season 2, who saved her life last season during the riot on Morlana One at the funeral of Maarva Carassi Andor.
From there, a relationship between them bloomed, one where she could of control over what goes on. She also starts to get noticed by some top Imperial officers like Orson Krennic, which is why I think this will be her season to shine, but also to be tested. Will she be able to hold up a relationship with Karen and still serve the Empire? Maybe. I think her loyalty towards both will be pushed to the edge.
Cassian Andor in Andor Season 2
Cassian Andor has always been a fighter since he was younger. He has someone who has sacrificed more than his share for the rebellion, ultimately leading up to his fate in Rogue One. In this series, we’ve seen him lose his home, his freedom, and even his own mother. What more can a man lose? This season, we’ve already seen he’s lost a friend, which I think is going to be the beginning of him not trusting anyone he works with or deals with.
If you remember, at the beginning of Rogue One, Andor hasn’t really been the most trusting individual in Andor Season 2. With as much madness as this war will give him, he will get his big moment, especially when K-2SO, who turns out to be one of his most trusted ally and friend in the rebellion. I think once this character gets introduced, things will start to really hit the ground running for Andor. For sure he is someone to look out for and not just because his name is in the title.
In the long run, there will be many characters in this series that will have their moments in the limelight. Who are you most looking forward to seeing in Andor Season 2?
