Why Choose Amazon Prime Video?

Many people might not realize that Amazon Prime Video is included with your Amazon Prime subscription. There are tons of things to watch on Prime Video — from originals to old favorites, and tons of live sports. It might not be known for its original content like Netflix, but there are still plenty of entertaining shows to choose from.

Them

Them is a horror anthology series with the first season set in Los Angeles in the 1950s. An African-American family, the Emorys, moves into a predominantly white neighborhood. You can kind of guess what happens next. Not only does the family have to deal with racism, but also supernatural forces, too. The first season premiered in 2021, with the second one following in 2024. If you love Jordan Peele’s Get Out, then this show is definitely for you.

The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time is a sci-fi/fantasy show following a magic weaver named Moiraine and her quest to find the five people who are destined to either destroy or save the world. These five people are fated and intertwined together as they have to face the prophecy and fight an ancient evil called the Dark One. There are currently three seasons, with the third one recently coming out in March 2025. Full of action and fantasy this show will definitely suck you in.

The Rig

Another supernatural thriller, The Rig, follows a Scottish oil rig in the North Sea that gets cut off from all communications and the outside world when it is suddenly surrounded by fog. The Rig is the first Amazon Original to be filmed entirely in Scotland. Crew members start acting strangely, and it is later found out that an ancient parasite has been unleashed on the crew through the fog. With two seasons currently available to stream, this is another interesting show from Amazon Prime Video.

Reacher

Reacher is another popular Amazon Prime Video show that’s based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. The show is currently in its third season and follows Reacher, a former US Army military police officer, as he travels from city to city. In his travels, he encounters a number of dangerous criminals, and he takes each of them on. Since the third season has been released, it has been renewed for a fourth season, and there is even a spin-off series in the works called Neagley.

Fallout

With the success of other shows being based on video games, like The Last of Us, it only makes sense for Amazon Prime Video to give it a go with Fallout. The show is also based on a role-playing video game. The show follows life after the Great War of 2077, which is a nuclear war between the United States and China. Taking shelter in fallout shelters, the world is now in full apocalypse mode. We follow a woman named Lucy as she leaves the fallout shelters to look for her father, who was kidnapped. There’s currently only one season available to stream, but the show was renewed for a second season.

Invincible

Invincible is another Prime Video show that follows teenager Mark Grayson. However, nothing in his life is normal. His father is the most powerful superhero in the world. After his 17th birthday, Mark starts to develop his own superpowers, and with the help of his dad, he learns how to use them. Mark finds out some things he didn’t know about his dad — he’s not the hero that everyone thinks he is. Now, Mark has some hard decisions to make as he learns how to become a superhero himself.

The Boys

The Boys is a satirical superhero drama that is based on a comic book of the same name. It follows a group of superhero vigilantes as they take on other people with superpowers who aren’t using their powers for good, but rather for personal gain. These people, known as Supes, work for a company that presents them to the public as legit superheroes. There are currently four seasons of the show available for streaming.

The Bondsman

A brand new show that just started streaming on Prime Video, Kevin Bacon plays a bail bondsman named Hub Halloran, who was resurrected and sent back to Earth from Hell to be the Devil’s bounty hunter. Halloran has to track down and take care of escaped demons from Hell as he tries to reconcile with people in his old life and make things right again.

The Legend of Vox Machina

The Legend of Vox Machina is an adult animated action show that follows a group of misfits, known as Vox Machina, in the fictional world of Exandria. Usually, they are hired for random quests, but eventually, they find themselves having to save the world from dark forces. From fighting dragons, the group of Vox Machina is suddenly heroes in their world. This show is pretty gory, so do be warned of that. It’s definitely not for kids.

Bosch: Legacy

Last but certainly not least is Bosch: Legacy. This show is a sequel to another Prime Video series, Bosch. The show is a police procedural show that follows a former LAPD detective, Harry Bosch. Serving as a sequel to the first show, there are three total seasons this time around. The third season, which just came out in March 2025, is the last and final season in this series. If you loved the first one, you should definitely check out the sequel.

Amazon Prime Video might not be as big as Netflix when it comes to original content and popularity but there are still tons of great shows out there that are just waiting to be found!
