Britney Spears will likely keep paying child support for her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, even though her sons are now adults. Spears and Federline’s youngest son, Jayden, turned 18 last week. Next month, Sean, their oldest son, will turn 19. Reports say that the 42-year-old pop icon will remain financially accountable for Jayden and Sean due to a California law.

Even though their children are no longer minors, the Baby One More Time singer is expected to continue paying ex-husband Kevin Federline’s child support. Since their divorce in July 2007, Federline has had primary custody of the children for many years.

Although, on September 12, her youngest son Jayden became an adult, nevertheless, Britney Spears will still pay for his support. Federline’s lawyer said that California law says parents must keep paying child support until their child graduates high school.

“According to California law, parents are responsible for child support until the child is 18. Or if they haven’t graduated from high school by the time they turn 18.” The child support for Jayden is being paid in line with the law in this case. In November, he will graduate from high school. ” Despite their difficult relationship, the 42-year-old has expressed her love for her sons.

Britney Spears’s Children Relocating

In June 2023, Britney Spears shared a throwback photo on Instagram of herself holding her son Jayden, captioned with two tulip emojis. The post came soon after it was announced that Sean and Jayden would be moving to Hawaii with their dad. Their dad took his wife, Victoria Prince, and their two little girls.

At the time, Kevin’s lawyer said that the move would give the family a chance to escape the attention of people in L.A. Sean and Jayden, on the other hand, have stayed out of the public eye for the most part as kids. However, they did talk more about their relationship with their mother in an ITV documentary in 2022. Jayden clarified that he and his brother don’t dislike their mom. He told them that getting back together would “take a lot of time and effort.”

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s two-year relationship

According to the former backup dancer, Britney Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline met at a Hollywood nightclub. On September 16, 2004, three months after meeting, they married in a private home in Studio City, California.

Sean Preston, the couple’s oldest son, was born in September 2005. A year later, Britney Spears had her second child, Jayden James. Eight weeks after giving birth to Jayden, Spears filed for divorce from the rapper. In March 2007, they agreed to share custody of their children as part of their divorce settlement. However, according to People, Federline refused to sign the papers because he was worried about Britney Spears’ behavior. Eventually, in July, they got a divorce.

Federline fights for full custody

In 2007, Britney Spears began to have a public breakdown. In February, she shaved her head in front of the press at Esther’s Hair Salon in Tarzana, California. Photographers followed Spears and her cousin a few days later as they drove through a gas station.

After telling the paparazzi to leave her alone, Britney Spears exited her car, swung an umbrella at a photographer’s car, and drove away. This was all captured on camera. In October 2007, Spears’ actions resulted in Federline being granted temporary custody of their sons by a Los Angeles court.

Federline asks for more child support

2018 Britney Spears and Federline had another dispute over child support payments. According to Us Weekly, Mark Vincent Kaplan, the former dancer’s attorney, wrote to Spears’ team in February. The letter explained why Federline should be paid more than the $20,000 per month he was receiving at the time.

By September, Spears had agreed to pay Federline thousands more per month in child support in a confidential agreement. In August 2019, Spears reached a new custody agreement that included 30% unsupervised custodial rights for her children. The agreement had been in place since 2018 and was made official in court.

Conclusion

According to the outlet, a source said Britney Spears is happy to continue supporting her sons. “Britney has plans for the boys’ future and will do whatever she can to help. She will always love and support them.” Despite their difficult relationship, the 42-year-old has expressed her love for her sons.
