Sabrina Carpenter Movies Everyone Has To Watch

Before she was topping the charts, selling out tours, and performing at the VMAS, Sabrina Carpenter got her start as an actress. While most may know her from the Disney Channel original series Girl Meets World, a spin-off of beloved classic Boy Meets World, where she played rebellious best friend Maya Hart, Carpenter has been acting in featured films since then. If you’re a fan of the pint-sized pop star, here are some of Carpenter’s films you should check out.

Adventures in Babysitting

Also airing on the Disney Channel, Adventures in Babysitting is a modern twist on the classic 1987 film. Sabrina Carpenter plays Jenny Parker, who has to team up with rival babysitter Lola Perez, played by Sofia Carson, when one of the kids they’re watching runs off to the city. While it may not hold up to the original film, it’s still a fun film to enjoy for a family movie night.

The Hate U Give

Although Carpenter isn’t the star of this movie, her role as the film’s antagonist is still vital to the film’s message. When Starr Carter, played by Amandla Stenberg, witnesses the shooting of her childhood friend at the hands of a police officer, she finds herself stuck between two worlds while figuring out how to use her voice for what is right. Sabrina Carpenter portrays Hailey, Starr’s friend from the private school she attends, who begins to show her true colors as the situation gains more media attention.

Tall Girl

A romantic comedy with an interesting premise. Jodi, played by former Dance Mom dancer Ava Michelle, is the tallest girl in her high school, struggling to find confidence in her tall stature. Sabrina Carpenter plays Jodi’s short but older sister, Harper, who is a cutthroat pageant girl who helps her little sister build her confidence. Despite being a side character in this film, Carpenter is hilarious in this Netflix film and steals the spotlight in every scene she’s in.

Work It

Quinn Ackerman, played by Sabrina Carpenter, has a chance to go to her dream college, depending on her performance at an upcoming dance competition. To get accepted, she gathers an eccentric dance team to compete against one of the best dance groups in her school. Quinn must rally her squad and learn how to dance herself. Reminisce of dance films from the past, Work It is a fun, budding comedy about taking chances and finding friendship in unlikely circumstances.

Clouds

Based on real events, Clouds follows 17-year-old Zach Sobiech, portrayed by Fin Argus, who tragically finds out his cancer has spread and is given a life expectancy of six months. With time running out, Zach decides to finally make an album with his best friend and writing partner, Sammy, played by Sabrina Carpenter. After producing the album, they soon became an online music sensation. Although tragic, Clouds is an inspirational, heartfelt film about loss and what we leave behind.

The Short History of the Long Road

Only knowing a nomadic lifestyle on the open road with her father, Nola, played by Carpenter, is left to fend for herself after the sudden death of her father. While traveling to be with the mother she barely knows in New Mexico, Nola’s van breaks down, and she soon bonds with an autobody shop owner, played by Danny Trejo. A raw coming-of-age story, The Short History of the Long Road tells a story of finding comfort in the most peculiar places while dealing with the tragedy life throws at us.

Final Thoughts On Sabrina Carpenter’s Movies

Although she has been focusing more on her music career, Carpenter’s acting abilities are still showcased in her music videos, especially those for songs off her recent album Short ‘n’ Sweet. While there haven’t been any recent projects that will feature Sabrina Carpenter’s films, aside from being a source of entertainment, she shows her growth and work towards becoming the pop sensation she is.
