After Barbenheimer, 3 Movies Are Expected To Breakthrough Summer 2024

Last summer was reigned by a cultural phenomenon that shaped it into an artistic celebration of Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan’s immaculate work in Barbie and Oppenheimer, respectively. Netizens named it Barbenheimer, and that experience raised the bar for film enthusiasts and made them look forward to what 2024’s summer has to offer. So, if you’re wondering which movies are worth your weekend this summer, let’s dive right into it!

Deadpool & Wolverine Movies

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman first met on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and from there bloomed a friendship that is still going strong to this day. “Since the day I met Hugh Jackman, I’ve genuinely been rooting for you,” Reynolds told Jackman in People’s Magazine YouTube interview. “In the last 10 years, we’ve had more time where we go for our walks cuz you’re an unbelievable listener…Deep down, I know you’re rooting for me, and you know I’m rooting for you.” Jackman reciprocated.

This chemistry between the two actors has been keeping people on the edge of their seats, looking forward to how it will again translate on the screen. In the movie, coming July 26th, the winds of fate will put Deadpool and Wolverine across each other again to take down a common foe, but could it ever be that simple?

Inside Out 2

If you are in the mood for an emotional roller coaster this summer, you are in for a ride because Inside Out 2 is coming to theaters on June 14th. Riley, the main character, in this movie, is experiencing a transitional phase in her life as she is turning 13. Riley is met with big new emotions and perspectives as Amy Poehler, the voice actress of Joy, put it. “Suddenly, you go from being kind of living in your world to realizing there’s a whole other world of people with opinions about you.”

The movie also introduces new emotions in addition to Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, there will be Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, Embarrassment, and Nostalgia. All the feelings one develops once becoming more self-conscious.

Yes, the movie’s primary target audience might be kids, but it still touches on human emotions in such a fun, imaginative, and mature way that gives the chance to people of all ages to relate and empathize. Maybe even provide them the chance to put words to inexplicable feelings they’ve been repressing and teach the youngsters how crucial it is to acknowledge and validate all their feelings regardless of their nature or where they come from.

A Quiet Place: Day One

If you are a fan of profound dialogues, this movie might not be exactly what you’re looking for. However, if you’re tempted to sit for almost two hours holding your breath in utter silence, taking part in the movie’s experience, then you probably should get your ticket to A Quiet Place: Day One.

The movie will take the viewers to the very beginning of the franchise’s story in which they will get to witness the first invasion of lethal aliens that are highly sensitive to sound, and so the only way to survive is to remain silent at all costs. The main lead Samira finds herself fighting for her survival beside Eric, a stranger she runs into amid the chaos.

What makes this movie stand out compared to the previous ones in Djimon Hounsou’s opinion is the setting as it is set in an urban city, New York.  “Completely different perspective, different environment, different setting and this one is much more devastating to witness.” the actor who plays Henri declared.

Telling a story with minimal to almost no dialogue is no easy feat as it completely relies on the actors’ skills in unspoken communication. This intriguing take on storytelling is what made people grow fond of the franchise. So, if you too want to learn how quietness could be worth a thousand lives, the movie will be in theaters on June 28th.

As you can see, summer 2024 too is about to offer some unforgettable experiences to film enthusiasts. Which of these movies are you most thrilled about and plan to lend your Saturday night to? Let us know!
