Life comes at you fast sometimes—especially if you are TLC star Amy Slaton. The reality star was minding her business on a day at the zoo with her children and a man when she got bit by a camel. Being assaulted on Labor Day didn’t appeal to Slaton, so the police were called on the wayward mammal. However, the tables turned quickly, as it was Ms. Amy who ended up being detained, not the camel. Read more about the star’s transgressions below!
Amy Slaton Falls Victim To Camel
In a ‘Tiger King’-inspired type of story, Amy Slaton had to be stretchered away after allegedly being bitten by a camel. She was at the Tennessee Wildlife and Safari Park on Labor Day when she messed with the wrong mammal. The park in question allows people to drive their personal vehicles through a 7.5-mile area and walk through 20 acres of zoo. There are feeding cups that can be purchased at least for the driving portion of the park to feed the animals.
It’s unclear if an angry camel was trying to nab a snack from Slaton during the drive or if the feisty mammal was apart of the petting zoo operation. The website addresses the ‘aggressiveness’ of emus and ostriches, but not camels. There are no obvious warnings for biting wildlife on the website either.
There are a lot of questions surrounding the incident that we don’t have answers for. For example, is the camel okay? Camel bites are rare; how did this happen? The answers are unclear at this time, but we do know that the bite was significant enough that she had to be stretchered away with what appears to be a makeshift tourniquet. Slaton was hospitalized for the injury to her right arm and was released. However, what was waiting for her was probably as shocking as being attacked by a camel.
The Reality Star Gets Arrested
Both Amy Slaton and the man with her, Brian Scott Lovvorn, were arrested at the zoo. Slaton had to take a quick hospital pit stop due to the camel bite, but she was at the station ready to take her mugshot for the ages before long. The reality star and her car companion both received multiple charges of drug possession and child endangerment. It’s alleged that the pair had mushrooms and marijuana in the car with Slaton’s two sons: Gage (4) and Glenn (2).
A zoo employee called law enforcement because of the extent of the injury. This did not bode well for Slaton or Lovvorn. When the police arrived, they neared the car, and the overwhelming smell pervading the area was weed. Tennessee has not legalized marijuana, and the children being in the car reeking of the drug is not a good look for Amy Slaton.
Where This Leaves The Slaton’s
This camel-drug incident has kicked off a CPS investigation. Child protective services will examine Amy Slaton’s fitness as a mother in light of recent events. Hotboxing your kids is not advisable in any state, whether marijuana is legal or not there. The addition of mushrooms is not making anything better.
The children were present at the arrest and left with unspecified trusted adults. Hopefully, this does not traumatize the little boys. Seeing your mother get arrested at any age would be awful. It’s not clear if the boys went with their father or not. What we do know is that Lovvorn and Slaton do not appear to be dating, so they won’t have a stepdad join the family anytime soon either.
In Conclusion
Amy Slaton was always the ‘1000 lb. sister’ who had it together. The Fiona in Shameless. She had faster and more sustained success in her weight loss journey and had a more established family life. Now that Tammy Slayton is succeeding in her weight loss journey and turning things around, it appears that the sisters are switching. Amy Slaton has to get it together so she can be present for her sons like they deserve. No shrooms, marijuana, or camels for you, Slaton.
